Changes for Round 8 v Hawthorn

    How about

    Out: Blakey, O'Riordan

    In: Reid, McInerney?

    Nice and simple.
All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)

I was thinking the same ins and outs, but it would be good to get J-Mac back in.

    Yes, but I'd add:

    OUT: Warner
    IN: Lewis Taylor

Warner looks a bit lost to me and certainly a long way from scoring a goal. We look light and Lewis Taylor has experience, a touch of class and the ability to kick a few goals.

Agree re Warner but it's hardly his fault. Yet again Horse and the match committee bring in a kid who is obviously playing well at the lower level playing in his natural position (midfield) and then they play them completely out of position (small forward) and wonder why they take so long to develop (if they even ever do)!

This has been happening over and over again with us and I don't think it will ever change (case in point backman Mills)!

To be fair, it is rare that junior midfielders slot straight into an AFL midfield. Sure, there are examples like Walsh and Rowell but the example of Warner playing as a small forward is not unusual. Eg Rankine, Rozee.

I agree that he looks a little lost in there and so would be better served playing mids in the scratch matches and playing a specialist small forward like Taylor or Wicks instead.

The selection of Aliir as a forward was very interesting. It shows that he is behind a few for a specialist back position with Horse preferring the undersized Fox. It will be interesting to see what happens if and when Reid is available.

Blakey needs some confidence playing a few scratch matches too.

With O’Riordan out, its time for Gould to debut too.

    Out: O’Riordan, Warner, Blakey
    In: Gould, Taylor/Wicks, McInerney

In McLean (for 2nd ruck ,better to leave Ali as a backman), Reid if fit, Gould (make us the youngest side) and a better kick coming off half back and Brand if fit, adds another tall down back
outs O'Riordan not up to it ,injured anyway),stoddard (not up to it, too hesitant),Blakey (struggling loss of confidence), Fox struggles most of the time although does some good things.
Leave the youngsters in. Forget L Taylor and S Gray (not going to be in our next premiership team) should not have recruited them. McInerney next in line for promotion again.
