Maybe teams should consider a new position in the game - a stander - someone whose role is to follow the ball around the ground and stand the mark whenever the opposition take a mark. Being a statuesque specialist, the stander would become expert in knowing when to stand and when to move and thus unlikely to incur a 50 metre penalty.

I actually think the new "statue on the mark" rule is going to be a huge positive for the game, until some coach figures out how to neutralise it.

Wasn't his name Mason Cox, except how you can swap the player on the mark to a taller, less mobile option

Anybody know what is going on with Kayo's cropped image coverage of the Collingwood Richmond game. Is this going to be the norm? I hope not.

I love this photo from the AFL website. Great expressions on the Richmond players' faces. The best is Bolton hiding behind Mabior Chol.

Not surprisingly, Buckley is prepared to step down as season's end if club sees fit to move in new direction. He probably sees the writing on the wall as he & Eddie were seen as hand in hand from the beginning. Only a successful season (top 4 finish?) will save him. If Buckley does finish up, will he get a senior coaching role elsewhere or is he so typecast as a Collingwood person with his reputation now possibly being seen as stained by some?

With the draft period, it certainly has been a revealing off season for the Pies.

I doubt that the brash bully is sensitive enough to realise that what he's feeling now might be akin to what he's made other people feel.

He's too self-centred to realise that he's copped his right whack. Should've been made to step down from football and media positions after the Goodesy issue but he was allowed to continue his boorish behaviour and people like Cynthia Banham suffered for it.

I have the perfect candidate; Will Hayward. He doesn't do anything else so he could work on being useful at this task. Trouble is he doesn't have the tank to get around the ground.

I not he's not that popular on here, but Clarko did have a couple of sensible things to say about the rule changes (statue on the mark and cut to interchange rotations).

Alastair Clarkson's reaction to "immediate" impact of AFL rule changes

"it’s going to be intriguing to see because the game is going to be more fast paced because of the man on the mark rule, but teams are going to have to change gears because they just can’t sustain it with the lower interchange, they can’t sustain that level for four quarters."

Clarkson added that the increased speed of the game coupled with only 75 rotations will make it tougher for teams to defend leads. "A five-goal lead nowadays going into the last quarter, normally you could work out ways to hold onto that lead, a five-goal lead is going to be nothing now because the momentum could change very quickly..."

Trying to make himself relevant again. The old diversion tactic.

Not sure if this has been mentioned somewhere else ........

Did anyone watch Hughesy's show last night?

Paps problem to solve was that his GF was moving to Sydney to live with him and he's worried it'll cramp his style!!!

    Trade issue solved.
