Another approach is the cheer squad banner, if a useful message can be chosen.
It could well read: "Judas Dawson. All the best....you lying bastard! Go Swans! Let's stone the Crows."

Has Ladhams been fully briefed that he’ll need to be able to reverse park in Sydney. He may need to park a few streets away to go to the beach.

Will the parking situation have him frustrated and dreaming of an Adelaide return.

Hope his hear with his eyes wide open.

Not sure what Ladhams has to do with the Dawson situation. What's done is done...you could not have done any better yet you squeal 'Terrible'. That's basically kicking the club when they're down.....through no fault of their own.

As I said 'terrible system' in which the Swans have done the best with the cards they are dealt, ie: being lied to and blindsided by a player and then treated like @@@@ by the recipient club while our hands were tied. I'd like to see how you would have handled that situation better. Any suggestions?

I worry that if the AFL don’t do something it isn’t good for the Suns with Lukusios, Rankine and King. It’s been mentioned on the board that there is no longer a place for the PSD in light of the rules around listing a delisted free agent. I agree. If a team needed to use a pick in the National Draft to recruit a target they will bring a more measured reflection on the value of an uncontracted player into their negotiations.

I also agree with Ralph Dawg that I’m unsure Dawson will thrive in the footy bubble of Adelaide like he has in our system. He doesn’t take me as having the steel or the ego it required, particularly when you’ve got Ricciuto and Cornes scrutinising every piece of football related content daily - it’s how they earn a crust.

I don’t post much so I’ll get it all out - happy with the Ladhams trade including the AA for Hickey component. It’s about executing the actions that fit the long term list strategy. Not all of those moves make sense by themselves, but I think in two years time we’ll look back and think it was prudent.

Agree with Ludwig having your players not come out of contact is a pretty important part of executing that strategy. Hopefully the seasons with normalise and the AFL can give greater certainty to clubs about TPP going forward.
Good post.....you should post more often!

So he's too dopey to realise border closures will pretty much be a thing of the past next year, he confirmed he snuck out of town before telling the Swans he was nicking off, and he's still got a crush on a dunderhead like Roo.

    Good riddance.

He will build on this in this offseason and could have a better year in 2023. Some old guys just learn to manage their bodies and go on and on. Shaun Burgoin was a a great example and Christiano Ronaldo is another.

Why not Buddy. He wants to play on and I think he’s probably now working harder than any other player on the list.
After taking virtually 2 seasons off prior to this year, his body has been well rested for a possible extension of his career. I too would not be surprised if he goes another season after his contract expires.....hopefully for a hugely reduced salary!

Well, if they continue to show that they know sweet FA about our club and continually display their Vic-centric ignorance, they will continue to be smashed.....and that's fair enough. Isn't it?

    Hi all,

Hope everyone has been well. Been nice to escape down the coast for a few weeks while the kids were up in Mt Buller. Pleased for all the NSW folk on here who i'm sure have been longing for a taste of freedom!!

I am thrilled with the recruitment of Peter Ladhams, saddened by the departure of George, and frustrated by the loss of Dawson. So.. a mix of emotions!! But that's the trade period, isn't it?? Maybe not the ideal off season.. i don't think losing JD and having to lose George rather than overpay him were what we wanted out of a brilliant season overall, but i am surprised to see so many Swans fans calling it a failed trade period ?? In years gone by we have lost high quality talent and had nothing come back.. maybe i am optimistic but i have a strong feeling Ladhams will hit the ground running with his second chance. & under Dean Cox of all coaches?? What could be better! So yes disheartening to again be losing talented players, but refreshing to finally be bringing some younger exciting talent through the door too!

With our draft hand, i hope we go for the best tall available.. it seems the WA group is very strong this year.. Is this true?? Any draft watchers out there??

Another minor observation.. Gardiner was asked who he saw replacing Hewett, a solid player known for his defensive and disciplined roles.. His answers? Stephens, Juzzy, The Chad, and Braeden Campbell! All attacking mids.. certainly not the kind JL would be giving "roles" to.. maybe a sign of the times.. the midfield is changing.. be quick, skilful and know how to find the footy, or get out of our way! The rebuild is on. Exciting times ahead! Can't wait to see it all come together! Bring on pre-season already !!

As I understand it Ronke, O'Connor, Clarke, Bell, Wicks and Reid are all out of contract. There was some talk of Bell's contract being extended through a trigger clause but no one has confirmed and there was chat that Wicks was close to signing a 2 new yr deal.

You'd think with Hewett gone, Clarke may get a new deal as depth (esp if Bell goes). Reid could be out the door with Ladhams in and freeing up more salary space for us.

On a sidenote - I hope Taylor gets a shot at seniors this year.
Hopefully Taylor turns up at pre season training in absolute tip top shape to show the club that he is serious about the remainder of his career.....and not looking like he has done nothing all through the off season.

Yep, apparently he is moving out of that penthouse apartment on the beach at Glenelg into the basement studio apartment between the
laundry and the underground car park in the Coogee building (see the links that were posted a few days ago on this thread). He said
it was a bit squeezy but if he lies diagonally across the room he might be able to fit in okay.

there. He's been a pretty good "average footballer" over the years.
My take is if fully fit and playing anywhere near his best, he is still comfortably in our best 22 for mine - so I'd be astounded if we don't offer him one last chance to get the body right. He isn't going to hit the heights we all hoped when he was so good early in his career, but he could well still have more then a minor role to play for the club. And at worst, he can help develop our younger big forwards coming through - just as long as he doesn't teach them anything about kicking for goal.

It is no bigger risk then keeping Naismith around (and yes I know he is contracted) or taking a punt on Paddy Mc.
