Yes, just the occasional 'speed' highlight to tease us......never any consistency. It was very unfortunate indeed..

We were so fortunate to survive that and then rebuild so quickly to become perennial finalists from 96 onwards to where we are now.

Edit: It gave me so much pleasure in 2005 when we won the Flag that Carlton won the Wooden Spoon!
It gave me a bit of pleasure when I recently counted the wooden spoons of the the 21st century. Carlton had five. No other club had more than two. Five wooden spoons in 20 years is 25%.

    Carlton: 5 (2002, 2005, 2006, 2015, 2018).
    Gold Coast: 2 (2011, 2019).
    GWS: 2 (2012, 2013).
    Melbourne: 2 (2008, 2009).
    Richmond: 2 (2004, 2007).
    Adelaide: 1 (2020).
    Brisbane Lions: 1 (2017).
    Essendon: 1 (2016).
    Fremantle: 1 (2001).
    St Kilda: 1 (2014).
    West Coast: 1 (2010).
    Western Bulldogs: 1 (2003).
    Collingwood: Nil.
    Geelong: Nil.
    Hawthorn: Nil.
    North Melbourne: Nil.
    Port Adelaide: Nil.
    Sydney: Nil.

I’ve said before that I thought GWS would slide this year, not because they lost some talent, but because there is something seriously wrong with that club.

To be clear, they did lose a few players and are now lacking any depth. But they’ve still got a lot of talent and going backwards regardless.

The idea they couldn’t win at least one flag with their list 15-19 is ridiculous. Grossly underperformed. But they are a soft, weak club with a culture of front running.

Name me a player on that list that seriously stands up when it matters. Name me a player other than Toby Greene or maybe Whitfield that consistently plays to their talent. Their coach is a total gimp. They tried to solve their forward problems by recruiting a clear head case in Jesse Hogan. They have six fans.

They should be packed up and sent to Tasmania.

Greater Western Tasmania. Based in Queenstown?

H’mm might need a hefty ‘difficult post allowance’ to persuade players to move.

The telling stat for the giants is that in 2021, the team of current ex giants is a better team than those on the giants list.

Loosing players is very culture destroying. I don't think they ever had a playing list that was flag worthy. Players either left before they peaked, or came well after there peak.

Also Leon Cameron is a dud.

I played a game there as a high school kid. There was no grass on the ground, it was dirt and gravel. It wouldn't grow due to
the pollution from the mines. Fortunately it didn't rain. I may not have still been here today. So maybe just sack Leon
Cameron first and see how that goes.

Titus' kneejerk reaction has dropped at last: The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: AFL Round Two - Titus O'Reily | Don’t have faith in yourself. ALWAYS worth reading, but not as good as the preview was this time around.
