He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
So don't get me wrong, I'm happy for Hickey to keep his place as he's been superb. But I'm pleased from a depth perspective that Naismith is getting back to full training.
Naismith to commence full training this week
'Delicious' is a fun word to say
Any time anyone criticised the decisions by the recruiters, remember this: they are paid to recruit players, so it is likely they see something we don't. How many times have the recruiters made a recruiting decision that was only good in hindsight? In hindsight for the fans, but not them - they knew what they were doing. Kennedy, Craig Bolton, Ted Richards ... and we can add Hickey to that list.
They don't always get it right, but they succeed often enough to make us proud.
In KB we trust.
"Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi final
Hickey is joint leader with Mills for our AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award after three rounds (11 votes from max of 30).
I hate to be a downer, but our ruck depth is pretty weak. Perhaps we dont really need a great ruck, but most people would agree that Hickey has been a massive inclusion. For all of our great recruiting to date, we have failed to nail a Max Gawn/Brody Grundy ruck for a good decade now. And we missed out on Jackson last year as well. Conundrum.
"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."
Seems a decent bloke: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CNrvwVW...=129bh052dx7uk.
Recruit of the year? He’s ranked #8 in the Mongrel Punts current top 50
Time seems to have past sinkers by. Now he's 3rd choice ruckman, and probably behind McLean as tall forward.
He may not play again.
