This is the team for this afternoon's match against Carlton, with the usual proviso that one of Sheldrick, Stephens, Warner or Gould will come out as the sub, and another if they play, will probably only play half a game, to be held over as emergency. The match takes place on the SCG at 4.05pm.

    B: W. Edwards (28), W. Gould (17), C. Webster (62)
    HB: L. Rankin (41), T. Longmire (58), C. Mitchell (35)
    C: C. Vickery (25), A. Sheldrick (29), J. Endemann (59)
    HF: J. Magor (32), H. Hall-Kahan (45), Har. Morrison (55)
    F: J. Konstanty (18), C. Owen (40), C. Haley (53)
    R: J. Crocker (54), C. Warner (37), D. Stephens (3)
    INT: Ham Morrison (66), M. Velthuis (60), J. Bartholomaeus (47), J. Tidemann (65)*, O. Davis (68)
    EMG: T. Howard (56), R. Fitzroy (65), M. Geddes (61)

IN: O. Davis, W. Gould, C. Haley, Ham. Morrison, D. Stephens, C. Webster
OUT: L. Melican, S. Wicks (AFL), W. Collis (groin), J. Brown (managed), M. Geddes, T. Howard
NEW: Oscar Davis, 20, Sydney University

Webster is an interesting inclusion. I thought he was a touch unlucky not to be rookie listed last year and this year he's played a couple of very good games as an academy over-ager. He looked comfortable at VFL level last season, so hopefully he can continue to press his claims.

The new top up, Oscar Davis from Sydney Uni, went through our academy, but I can't really recall him. Nor can I recall if Nick Davis has a son called Oscar?

Looks like Corey is the AFL sub.

Left field but why isn’t Gould tried as a big body mid ?

Fitness, speed and lack of general game sense at the AFL level

Possibly hasn't quite got the endurance, but it might be worth a try. He can lay a big tackle, has a very good kick and possibly plays a bit better when angry, or at least strongly physically involved.

For the first time this season, the Swans look a team that's been coached. But it's only the first quarter.

Nice to be in front at quarter time, although Carlton has a big edge in experience, so it may not stay that way. Generally most of the team has been playing well, with some of the ball movement being crisper than it has been.

Who is this side out there in red and white and what have they done with our Swans. This is a team actually playing with a bit of system, dare and dash through the middle. Sure, the skills aren’t quite top notch across the team but it’s the liveliest they’ve looked, apart from maybe the last half hour of the match three or four weeks ago that, but for some composure late, they’d have won.

Really liking the move of Magor to the backline (again). He’s messed up a kick or two but he’s showing clean hands, agility in traffic and plenty of dash.

Sorry guys ... think it's me.

Every time I start watching our VFL team they play horribly
