    SFL rd 7 report

Good to see the comprehensive Sydney AFL report up so early, my only bit of constructive criticism is if you think the young St George player had a "brain explosion" by pushing the Norths player into the goalpost then you were watching a different game.

The Norths player was heading into the post and the St George player had his eyes on the footy. For the St George player to be sin binned for 15 minutes game time was a complete over reaction.

It ruined a good close game of footy. Even talking to the norths players and officals after the game they agreed it was very harsh. Norths then got every decision to open up a match winning break.

The umpires tried to even it up in the last quarter by favouring St George but by then the damage was done.

Fair enough. The mark was taken very close to the goalpost, so a collision could easily have been accidental. The umpire had no hesitation in pulling the card out - but unfortunately that can be a subjective call, in this case one that turned a game.
But the period when the Crows were one short gave North Shore enough of a break. Again it raises the question of the yellow card - the umpires can only call it as they see it, but like everyone else they may see something as being worse than it really was. But if it leaves a team one short, that can turn a game - unless it's something totally blatant then it may be better for the umpire to put it on report and let the tribunal deal with it.

You raise a very good point Norris about the yellow card.

Ive seen it come out in 3 games this year and it could of affected the result in 2. Unless a bloke is running around king hitting people i dont think it should be brought out.

With 16 a side on a big ground it just punishes the side who is a man down to much.

    Question

The yellow affected a match at Olds when the crows played pennant hills. The demons lost by a point.

Anyone know whats happening at north shore and their under performing 18's? 3 wins and 4 losses..... surely their worst start in many years?
