    Peter Schwab resigning today

" Peter Schwabb will announce on Wednesday he is standing down as coach of AFL club Hawthorn.

Hawthorn has called a press conference for 2.30pm (AEST) where Schwab will announce he is standing down as coach of the club which is currently last on the AFL ladder."

From what is being said on other message boards the club is basically in crisis.

    Have a look at this:

Can't beleive nobody had the guts or organisational skills to let the captain and players know that Schwab had been saked and to organise someone to take training.

From my contacts with the Hawthorn club, I have learnt that the reason why Schwabby has resigned is because he's lost the confidence of the players. He's not letting the players have enough of a go; for example there's young players who have had their development restrained because they don't get to be on the ground for more than 10 minutes at a time.

Schwab was allowed to remain for the rest of the season so as to give the club a chance to find a replacement. Having a caretaker coach the club for just a few games wasn't an option.

The main coaching candidates (Eade, Wallace, Ayres) are all former Hawthorn players.

Sounds alot like one ex Sydney coach who is looking for another coaching gig at the moment. If this was an issue for Hawthorn, why would they then hire Rocket when the issue above was one of the reasons he lost the confidence of his players.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

    That's a little unfair Mike_B.

Eade did fall out with the players in the end, but he had a number of very good years at the club where the players would have and did anything for him.

It would be a totaly different set of circumstances if Eade went to Hawthorn so a comparison can't be made.

I can't get over how negative some people are towards the most succesful coach this club has had for many decades.

I will be quite stunned if he's not coaching somewhere next year.
