I like nothing better than seeing that little weasel Matera being beaten. Fantastic game by Nicks. That mark he took in the last quarter towering over Matera was brilliant.

Why was Nicks ever played on the forward line. His pace and clean disposal has added so much to our backline. Now we have 3 quick running defensive players who are making very clean disposal.

Barry was good and so was Kennelly who I don't think had a clanger tonight.

Nicks has been one of my favourite players for a long time, and I was disappointed when he lost form in recent seasons. But he was back to his defensive best tonight, to hold Matera kickless is a great achievement.

Agree. Could be a great 're-discovery' back there.

He was great, but don't get too carried away. He played on a much smaller player who received very poor service from players upfield.

I had my doubts earlier this year about whether Nicks had a place on our list next year, but now I am sure of it - he has rediscovered his best form this year... in the backline.

Credit tonight to the coaching staff for creating that match-up freeing the likes of Barry and Kennelly to focus on being the first line of attacking players for us.

That's true to a certain extent, but Matera kicks an awful lot of goals from crumbing, and every time he gathered the ball tonight Nicks was all over him.

Sensational effort by the whole backline, keeping the Weagles to 4 goals for the match!!

Matthew Nicks has just earnt himself a contract extension!!

I refer you to my post on 14th July 2003 01:17 AM:

The Nicks bandwagon is about to roll. Get aboard now and avoid the humiliation of joining late!
