Would be very happy with Harry Barnett with our pick 17 but what could be better than one Harry B but two Harry B's. Would be also be happy to take Harry Boyd with our pick 42 which would give us both a developing ruckman and one who is right ready to go right now. Harry Boyd could also cover Key Defence and Forward positions as well. Speculation that Melbourne are looking as well.

Bit disappointed that we took Francis as he does take up a list slot that could have been used for a developing player and we don't need a specialist VFL defender.

I was aghast when I found out we were chasing Francis, but I've since warmed to the idea given he has undoubted talent but was caught in the quicksand of mediocrity that has now been exposed at the Bombers.

Moving to us might be just the tonic he needs to fulfill that talent, he knows this is now his last chance and we are a high standards club.Could be either a cheap bust or a long term player and therefore a steal.

Only seven sleeps to go and all will be revealed .....

AFL has issued the official draft order. Quite a number of picks in the 60s have been extinguished because clubs didn't have list vacancies. Not that we're likely to use it, but our pick 75 is now into pick 69 and will come in further once Brisbane picks get extinguished in matching F/S bids.

Unless Brisbane have a can of magic draft spray, they are going to go into serious deficit in 2023 to match bids where they don't have a first rounder and only one second rounder tied to Geelong (late 30's) then three picks in the low 50's. This is going to be a great watch because they barely hold enough points this year to match Ashcroft at pick 2 let alone if GWS did the right thing and bid at pick 1. So with no points left, Jaspa Fletcher is tipped to be bid on around our picks!

I normally wouldn't be keen to draft a ruck, prefer to just nab one already developed from another team, but given our two first rounders and the state of our list I'd be happy if we took Barnett at 18.

Be interesting to see what we do next week, the only predictable thing is that none of us will predict what Kinnear and Simon actually do!!

I was warming to the idea of taking Boyd with a late pick, but only if we don't take Barnett, as that would give us 3 developing ruckman, which is just too many at one time. It's hard to get them enough VFL time to develop.

I still see Ladhams as the long term Hickey replacement. He's made some dumb errors, but has otherwise played well. He just needs a lobotomy and should be fine.

I think we were all surprised by the Francis recruitment. It's a call that we should defer to the judgment of our list managers. This time next year we can weigh in on the wisdom of the call.

Well we won't be taking Harry Boyd as it appears he has not nominated for the draft.

Every since we got Ted Richards from the bombers, our recruiting department seems to be obsessed by Essendon list cloggers. Like a problem gambler, we only want to talk about our wins.

    tell me more re McAndrew?

How many games had you watched him play?
How many practice games and or training?

    focussed on him primarily?

I must say from the limited training and or games i see a kid with a lot of potential.........2024/25

raw, intense defence, covers the ground really well.

    now crafting his ruck play
"be tough, only when it gets tough"

"Ever since"? Nah! The condition was evident long before that, Ed Considine, Michael Werner, Richard Ambrose and especially Andrew Bomford.
And Bloods05 asks a pertinent question below.
