GAME DAY thread Swans v Cats Round 23

Grundy and Richards are arguably the best key defensive duo in the comp. the fact we have conceded the least amount of points this year suggests they are. Richards has been better and makes better decisions a lot of the time but his job would be a lot harder without Grundy alongside of him.

Grundy has just got to stop kicking directly to an opponent.

I've found Grundy to be far less effective this year as a key-position back, and statistics can make a distorted impression. In his game against Collingwood he beat Cloke in the air every time - when a third player came over the top. There were only three times that they faced off one-on-one - Grundy lost all three - easily (Cloke scoring three goals). Now, Cloke is a monster, but Grundy gives up too easily in contests now (he plays as Goodes does when down on form and appeals for free kicks while the ball is still there to be won).

Our problem is options. There are not many decent-sized defenders out there. LRT could go back, but it has been a while. Everything is a risk (even maintaining the status quo). At this point I wouldn't mind if the match review panel took the decision out of Longmire's hands.
