Every other code would have dropped them down. Yet for sydney afl its too hard to re do draws.
Good call - why would you travel for a 8am/8.30am/9am game for a flogging. Just another point saviour if you ask for teams to go down in grade why not put teams up in grade NOW if they are the one's doing the flogging - (DIV 4 St George)

Precedent was set years ago but unfortunately we havnt had a good administrator since Garry Burkinshaw who was prepared to go against the grain.

Blacktown 19 two forfeits have been (1) Home game (2) 5.00 PM game away. Against the two undefeated teams. Maybe they were trying to protect their percentages . And fair point, clubman. I'm sure that Saviour would be on board with having a potential flag taken from him

Mate I agree. We look too good for div 4 this year. Half a team out last week and we still win by 100 with 18 players (and a few injures in first quarter.)

Problem is come finals time the uni's will drop their players and UTS may win their 4th in a row (and not go up yet again). We had 10 players play in div 1 last week and they were up 60-10 at 3/4 time. We have good depth and I'll be very disappointed if I don't captain/coach this side to a premiership.

Saying that we are probably going to start getting beat now!

Looking at div 3, the teams who went up last year are 1st, 2nd and 4th so probably not too much difference between them. And the team that dropped from div 3 last year is 8th in ours and got beat by 180 by the team we beat 110-1!

You are completely right here. Fair to say most would prefer to see St George go thru undefeated and win the flag, than UTS come from 5th and win it with a team mixed in from Div 2.
Considering you misssed finals on % last year, fair to say you'd earn a flag this year, not steal one.

RE: Magic 19s... objectively it seems straight forward. Apparently the only thing blocking it is precedence? Are we really prepared to let policy stop us from kids playing footy in a comp they would probably be mid table in?

Politics aside, kids playing footy should be what we care about most, and it seems lost in bureaucracy here. If Gil was sat down and asked what he'd prefer, surely it's participation??

Your team still has good players that can play or have played at good level over the years. Yes as you said that they don't train at times so they don't get picked in higher grades. Other clubs in that grade have players that never played AFL - just mates having a kick (Div4/Div5) so that is why the structure of divisions is so out of wack.

I say it again there is already precedence for dropping a team down a division during a season.

    What's the precedence?

Clubman makes a fair point. In some other sports, re-grading after 3 weeks evens out the comps quickly. Would re-fixturing be the biggest barrier?

I cant recall if Towns 19's were relegated mid season some years ago Pace would probably have a better recollection but I was definitely contacted by the AFL about my thoughts on exactly this scenario on more than one occasion involving more than one club - one of those clubs didn't take the opportunity.

As I said earlier though the current administration don't seem to be willing to made bold decisions.

The difficulty of re-fixturing would be why it doesn't happen - and it would be a logistical nightmare.
But despite the difficulty, there may be times it has to happen. With Magic forfeiting twice already and getting belted every other game, there's a case to drop them down. Players aren't going to travel across town for an 8am game where they're not going to be competitive. They're clearly not going to last the season in this division - and that's no good for anyone.

9.30am I think should be the start of the day for Games. Give teams from across town time (Egs: Liverpool to Manly 9.30 start - arrive 8.30 - leave home 7am ??) Not 8am start leave home 5.30am - Why GO
