What is with fans of the Eagles & Dockers making a W sign with their thumbs and index fingers?

Every goal the Dockers score there is this goof who gets his ugly mug on camera making this stupid sign.:confused:

There is a local Perth tv footy show, "The Western Front" that picks some spaz out each week who was seen making the sign. They win free dental work or a basket of sausages or something for it.
