I know its early.... but starting a Round 6 post anyway.

Do we have any Swans bretheren in sunny QLD who can answer katie-scarletts question for us?

How many sydney folk are making the trip up?

Also, is there a pub close by where Red n Whiters can meet up b4 the game? It was good meeting up at the Colonial last weekend b4 heading over to the Dome. Would be good to do a similar thing in Brissie if anyone else is keen and knows somewhere close by (ps there has to be more on tap than just XXXX btw) ;)

Awesome, Im sure there will be an RWO drinking hole b4 the game! :D

My GF and I are heading up on Virgin Blue DJ211 on Saturday morning, heading back on DJ276 on Sunday night.

Have you and your crew got tickets yet?

katie-scarlett

Missy
3rd April 2006, 11:10 PM
Yeah, sure do. Virgin Flight DJ227 up to Brissie then we are driving down to Coolangatta on Monday and flying out from there late that night.

I'm heading over to check out tickets for he game on Wednesday after work. One of my friends in Brisbane wants me to get her some swans merch to wear! Very impressed with that effort!

And I think someone said the RWOers usually meet up at the Pineapple? Does that sound right?

katie-scarlett

I'm heading up for Round 6 too. Tickets are on sale through ticketek April 18, there is a visiting team section you can ask to sit in but I don't think our memberships really help much.

That is a bit rough mate. They CAN & DO help in relation to away tickets for Brisbane SA & WA matches. It is just so much better to be able to get tickets in the official club allocation.

Normally the away allocation is on the half forward line on the outer side (Simex tyres sign). BUT WE in the Cheer Squad could BADLY do with your help that day. Lescygnes & AnnetteF have not really organised anything official as regards a Queensland-based Swans Supporters Club, but will be sitting with us behind the goals waving the flags & helping support the side.

If you do not mind sitting behind the goals with other Swans supporters, just contact the club & say that you'd like to sit with the Cheer Squad. They'll gladly sell you as many tickets as you want with us.

We couldn't sell more than 1 & a 1/2 rows last season, so more Swans fans sitting together would be greatly greatly appreciated.

JF

PS:- The seats behind the goals at the Gabba are awesome I reckon. 10 million times better than those at the SCG.

Thanks JF, sounds like a good plan :) I have never had the Cheer Squad experience..... and im always up for trying new things ;)

Do you guys supply all the flags n stuff or do we need to bring our own?

JF, that is not hard!!! ;)

If you haven't organised tickets for brisbane and you are thinking up going up there, consider calling up the club and getting tickets behind the goals. It's really either that or take your chances getting seats through normal channels and sitting in amongst the lions supporters :)

Admittedly I don't sit with the official CS at home games because I have my own seats and friends that I sit with etc.. But it's nice to be able to sit with other Swans fans at away games. Normally get a big Swans crowd to Melbourne games.

Would the crazed eating, insane ranting and general noise making of a 5 y.o. really fit in with the cheer squad section? My understanding is that they tend to sit on their hands, eat cheese and drink wine.

Yeah, and the 'normal' channels last weekend for me resulted in being surrounded by Essenbum supporters..... with a crappy view!

Not going to let THAT happen again. Cheer Squad all the way i reckon! :D

I just called the club. Rachel was VERY FRIENDLY & VERY HELPFUL, but is closing her allocation of tickets THIS LUNCHTIME.
Melbourne have closed their allocation, so to get tickets in the club allocation you need to call ASAP. There is either the Cs allocation behind the goals, or the reserved seat option on the Simex tyres sign on the half forward line on the outer side.

We have sold an screaming allocation of TEN TICKETS (WOOHOO!:o ) in the CS at the Gabba. So we'll have a few banners & things I'll be lugging up on Thursday night (where I'll be staying chez Les Cygnes  )

There is still time to book your tickets, but you need to drop what you are doing (unless you are in the shower & what you have is a towel :p ) and give them a call on Phone: (02) 9339 9123

Y'see, that's a bit weird. I ordered 6 tickets last week, so either someone can't add up properly... or... someone can't add up properly :)

Hmmm....thats odd! I organised mine weeks ago before the tix went on sale and then checked at the office last week and it was all go. Money still hasnt come off my credit card though. Maybe I need to triple check.

14 = "rocking in the free world"

I have 4 for myself Lescygnes WesternSwan & 'Boofhead/Symbol'.

I'll check the exact numbers with the club so I can have an adequate number of flags & signs in tow.

Thanks heaps for helping out there Missy. I will be needing ALL hands on deck so that we can get the banner up & running up there. Considering the 1pm start it may well be an early start for some of us that day.

Wonder if the Pineapple Hotel
http://www.pineapplehotel.com.au/default.htm
does breakfast? Or maybe an early steakdinner after the game for those of us flying home that night?

JF

PS:- 'Symbol' is the artist formerly known as Boofhead. ;)

I'm also flying up on DJ 211 on Saturday morning, but am returning on DJ 272 on Monday night.

I booked my ticket for the match through the club a few weeks back, yet they haven't turned up yet. This is the first time I have done this, and probably the last.

Does anyone know where the location of these tickets would be? Would this be behind the Goals with the CS?

I'm also going down for the Richmond match at Telstra Dome on the 13th on DJ 810 at 715am on Saturday morning and returning on DJ 893 on Saturday night. Is anybody else on these flights?

Also going down for the Hawthorn match on the 27th on DJ 818 at 815am on Sat morning and reurning Jet* from Avalon on Sunday afternoon:frown

Not necessarily. The official reserved seating allocation is on the half forward line near the players race where our boys come out (Simex Tyres sign).

By the looks of the stadium map below it would be Bay 25.
http://www.thegabba.org.au/files/pdf/Gabba%20Facilities%20Map.pdf

My tickets haven't arrived. Considering I leave on Thursday night, it is a little worrying. I have dealt with the ticketing department from the Lions before and they are nothing but a bunch of typical dopey Queensland muppets who need a bomb put under them to get anything done in a hurry. I dare say the delays are at the Lions end, not with us. I have NEVER not received my tickets on any of my away trips.

Don't panic if you don't get them in time.

Yeah, no sign of our tickets yet either :(

My flights for Richmond are 818 and 837, Hawks 858 and 841, then the customary road trip to Canberra :)

Sure will be a long month. I wonder how loud the siren will be at Manuka this year? ;)

Hey JF

Are u going to the game on Sunday in Brisbane ?

What a win by the boys against the cats ?

If they can win their next few then they will be right back in the mix

We will see what happens

The Geelong game was my first game of the year that I went to

I was very pleased that the Swans played so well and actually beat the cats

Hey MSB.

I used to go to pretty much all of the away games of the year except for the games that were in perth and I have never been to Adelaide to watch the Swans play

My goal next year is to go to all the away games that the Swans will play but it is generally difficult because of bowling on a Sunday night

If I give up sunday night bowling then I will be able to go to the away games and come back later on a Sunday

Was going up to Brissy for the game and staying at Jupiters Casino. But then plans got changed. So im going to Melbourne with my parents and a friend for the round 7 match against Richmond.
Would of like to be there for the Brissy game, but its all good.:D

Hi Guys,

OK the weather for the game this weekend is typical Brisbane weather for this time of the year.

Will be clear and sunny and sunday should get to 25 degrees. saturday should get to 27 and saturday night should get down to about 14 degrees.

the lions only got 30,000 to the game against Richmond at the Gabba, so tickets arent going to be a problem.

I just phoned the Pineapple and they are open at 10am. YAY! Their restaurant is booked prior to the game but there are openings for after the match. I would book if you are keen on eating at a certain to get flights, etc. give them a call on 07 3393 1111.

and as for those of you picking on XXXX and our laid back lifestyle, up yours! you'll be sleeping out on the porch with the cat this weekend JF!

cheers
John in Brisbane

ps-the lions fans at work are gearing up for a thrashing. they're not looking forward to sunday at all.

dazza
3rd May 2006, 11:01 AM
I don't think that the Lions are going to get thrashed and I would not be surprised if an upset is on the cards

The Lions are a proud club and they will come out swinging this Sunday.I hope the Swans are on their game and give it to Brisbane

Do u think that Crouch will get the job on Akermanis ?

They hate each other

wheels27
3rd May 2006, 11:27 AM
I for one hope so, that match up is one of the highlights of our Lions games, he is one of very few who could manage to get Aka's eye off the ball.

Agree that Brisbane will be no easybeats.

dazza
3rd May 2006, 11:47 AM
They may have heaps of good players out like Keating and Lappin but they still have Voss and Akermanis and Brown and Black and Power

That is still a good side plus a lot of good youngsters who have nothing to lose and plenty to prove to the rest of the AFL

I am disappointed that the Lions are at the bottom of the ladder

They should be higher than that but they have had a rough start to the season

We will know in about 5 weeks time who is going places and who is falling away

The Pies are a dangerous team and without many injuries are looking good this year

I have been to heaps of games both in melbourne and also brisbane in the last few years but financially this year I have not been to many Swans games

I have only been to one game this year so far and that was against Geelong

I will be going to the bulldogs game in a few weeks time

I remember going to the game up in brisbane 2 years ago and jason ball missed the shot at goal from virtually in front which would have won them the game

Instead they lost by a point

I have been to Melbourne heaps of times to watch the Swans play
