Who's our captain today (well who won the toss for us)?

Because right now Kirky is full on in Captain Kirk mode with his possessions. 13 so far this quarter.

Pleasing first half - to put it mildly.

Best concerted tackling performance this season by the team. And the forward line seems to be operating very efficiently - again, best yet this year.

Very pleasing to have 11 goal kickers, and that the midfield is continuing to contribute to the scoring. Kirk's miss was a shocker though.

Looks like Richo missed out on one he should have been given, but I see it as an even up for the Stafford goal - Leo was correct that he was taken out of the contest with a push.

Excellent point that. Seemed like we never really put the wood to anyone last year where the teams above us on the ladder had some pretty handy scoring differentials.

Just for those who needed a bit more evidence that Kirky is having a great game. The rankings
1. Kirk 81
2. Magic 64
3. Pebbles 58
4. Goodes 56
5. Hall 54

I don't know how this is calculated but it is probably about right. I think Fearless and Eski are having strong games too, and LRT. Maybe Leapin' will not be required to play on the Guerilla's in the league, LRT may now be the first choice.

Sydney really taking advantage of Richmonds stuff ups, don't seem under pressure and are making faultless advances.

Richmond will come out hard in the first 5 minutes on the next quarter, if we hit a couple of goals in that time we'll blow them apart with ease I feel.

Got in the car after a win in our winter cricket comp and heard Richmond 8.6 to Sydney "Nine".....split second later heard the "teen" and it was like whoa! Got home in time to watch the last quarter and it seems like the fire from the contest was gone, but great to see our intensity still there.

Picked up just under 20% which could be VERY handy later in the season. Looking at the stats and the scoresheet, it seems like everyone contributed and great to see that some guys who have been down a little in the past few weeks stepped it up.

A lovely afternoon...Ted was OK to good ROK, but not prepared to be convinced about him against weakened opposition, who gradually turned into a rabble. O'Keefe kicking was very welcome & necessary if we are to handle the challeng of playing all other teams in the 8 over the next 7/8 weeks. Matthews is now Malceski's understudy. LRT did well in marking contests but Ricjo ran him ragged in the first half & kept Richmond in the game for a while...what a goer that bloke is.

I think some other clubs might be looking at a rather large Swan-shaped blip on their radar right now. Right now we're fourth on the ladder, and will be no lower than sixth after the completion of the round.

Richmond were undermanned, but that is not unusual for opposition clubs. What is unusual is that we've scored our biggest ever win over Richmond, and we've got our biggest score since 1987.

Malceski got three goals to take his career total to six.

Have watched plenty of Swans games where they tackle incessently, plenty where their run wins them the game, and some where they don't dominate possession but win through excellent skills.

Can't recall a game for quite a while where they were superb in all three areas for four whole quarters of a game.

Also, while Richmond are young and inexperienced and were undermanned today, I thought their effort levels were pretty decent until the final quarter when their defence just stopped. Usually 100+ point wins happen where the opposition doesn't put in an effort, but don't think that was the case this afternoon.

i thought that too. Even though they were being slaughtered a lot of the Tigers, especially the younger cubs, continued to try hard, very commendable. This also helped to push our guys to new heights. i reckon if the Tigers backed off the swans may have too. It was good to see pedal to the metal right up until the siren.

Well that was all right then, wasn't it?

Best game of the year for: Kirk, ROK, Fosdike, Richards, MOL & Malceski - may have been others too.

Quality of passing as good as you're gonna see. Richmond hopelessly undermanned but Swans were ruthless, kicked straight & saw the game right out the end - a delightfully unSwans performance!!

For the record, looked like most Richmond fans stayed to the bitter end.

Just back from the Aussie Rules social club, still in shock that a team that has struggled to score 100pts in a game gets there just after half time
Channel 10 commentary was painful, very amusing to here them saying Richo was a standout for Richmond, when he had about 1 posession and being well held by LRT.
Took till about the 3rd Quarter to say anything positive about Sydney (apart from the 7min burst at the beginning) ;)
Amusing to see Dipper in the background of the Half Time report from Malthouse, jumping up and down like a idiot obviously wants his job back :D
Can't say Sydney had a bad player today even Chambers looked useful, but LRT please please don't think when you have the ball

Back from the Aussie Rules club, Liz makes a great point about how Richmond didn't drop their intensity even though they were getting walloped which makes the win even better.

Our skill level is superb and with Goodes back to his brownlow best, Bazza back into scratch and the lower tier contributing well all is bright in the Red and White!

Destructive, RogueSwan is talking about the MMM Sydney coverage. Not sure if you can get it down in Goulburn but they are worth listening to. Not only are they pro-swans they are amusing too.

Best comment of the day was about LRT's decision making skills. They commented on how well he was doing on Richo but questioned his decision making which they reckoned was as good as a junky's.

Agree with Glenn the bit with Dipper in the background was very funny.

our skill level was the best it has been in a long time, plus our kicking for goal was sensational. 8 straight at quarter time is good stuff

Hard to fathom that our first four goals of the game came from just nine possessions!

LRT was outstanding with his spoiling work, but he has little idea what to do when the ball hits the ground and no idea what to do with the ball when he gets it.

I said a similar thing in the "Lewis" thread but while I think that's a fair assessment based on today's game, he's generally not too bad at ground level or in possession nowadays. I reckon he might just have been a bit spooked with playing on Richo.

Yep, I've not really seen him so lost when the ball is on the ground before. THat's normally the better part of his game. Possession is still terrible.

Have you seen our percentage?! It's gone from 100% to 120% in one game! Don't see that too much in the middle of the season. :D

hopefully this is simular to what happened from round 16-18 in 1987
rnd 16 - Sydney 30-21-201 def. West Coast 10-11-71
rnd 17 - Sydney 36-20-236 def. Essendon 11-7-73
rnd 18 - Sydney 31-12-198 def. Richmond 15-17-107

it has started this week v richmond
now we got 2 fairly weak teams in the following 2 rounds and 2 teams that can easily get scores kicked against them time to rewrite some record books

From what I have heard it was the first 100 point win in Melbourne by us since 1979 and of course our first as the Sydney Swans.
Not sure about that though...

It's our highest score in Melbourne since 1980.

It's our equal 8th biggest win of all time.

It's only our 15th win > 100 points

It's our 5th biggest win in Melbourne of all time.

It's our biggest win in Melbourne since 1995 (against Fitzroy) and before that 1955.

It's our first win > 100 points against Richmond.

Could you blame them really?

We had a great little group there. All basically RWOers.

I am just thrilled at our effort. It was not just that attacking running footy we played, it was the defensive 1%ers ALL GAME. The Tigers were rattled bfore too long.

We are BY FAR the BEST defensive team in the league. If we continue to play footy like this, we will be up there for sure.

The only negative though I could think of at the end of the day was whether we were peaking too early.

Today we grew as a footy club. We played like DESERVED premiers. That feels bloody good to be honest!

JF (bloody happy tonight)

Outstanding display.

Tackling and inside pressure was excellent.

Sure opposition turned out to be poor, but good sides should destroy teams under these circumstances.

Richmond were never in it. I can't believe we kicked 7 goals straight without any behinds. Amazing stuff. Ryan was fantastic.

Nah, don't blame them just commenting that they too left the game early. I admired them fo going to the club and watching the game there considering all the rest of the spectators were swans fans.

Probably already mentioned but the commentators stated that its the highest score for a non victorian club at the dome. Great effort.

For the record, looked like most Richmond fans stayed to the bitter end. No, at the start of the 4th quarter the number of Richmond supporters there had halved. By the end of the game, you could see exactly how many Swans supporters were there (along with a small number of very loyal Tigers supporters).

Magnificent effort by Sydeny - an awesome performance that will have the other teams very worried with Sydney back to its premiership winning best. Some of the highlights for me included our accuracy kicking for goal and our forwards giving good leads and having the ball delivered superbly to them.

The players don't notice supporters have left in that case - they simply want to get off the ground and don't waste time looking around to see what support is left.

For the record, looked like most Richmond fans stayed to the bitter end. How many beers did you have?

From where we were sitting you could see that the trains were going to be crowded at 3/4 time...full of Richmond supporters.

Seriously there were only a few thgousand left at the end of the game. We were next to the commentary box at the Lockett end and were out numbered by tigers supporters for the first three quarters, but there were only a few left at the end. But on level 1 we could see there were more empty seats than full ones after 3/4 time.:D

BTW I think the premiership hangover is officially over.:D
