Oh dear. Could be worse...could be McInerny.

BTW After one dodgy decision last week I thought out VERY loud..."Is that McLaren with a toupe (is that how it's spelt?)?"

But did the Mafia pay for the toupe like they did for the Juventus ref?

Woodcock is the wood duck amongst that trio.

Spelt is a kind of bread.

He must have got the rug from Bert's fine array.

Or is it from Brent Guerra's rack.

i saw him cut it from Gehrig's mullet. Copped a shiner for his efforts though.

Schmidt named in the emergencies - good to see him thereabouts.

Has there ever been another player who had five kicks in seven games and still wasn't dropped? Surely we have somebody else who can play in the ruck.

Perhaps yes, especially if what Chambers has produced thus far is a pass mark.

While Donk still is rehabilitating his hamstring, and Andrew Ericksen is sidelined with a shoulder injury. We do have 3 other ruckmen on the list. I personally think Sam Rowe and "Another Brickin the . . ." aren't ready for the AFL, I remain bullish about Earl Shaw. His body seems to have taken on muscle in ecacly the way Andrew Ericksen has not.
I've been a fan of his stoppage work for some time and even the swans website acknowledges that he's a "good mark" which is unfortunatley not something we can definitively say about Paul Chapman.
I am not saying we should drop Torture, his ruckwork has been improving, I just do not subscribe to the belief that Ruckman are a form of mushroom and should be allowed to develope entirely in the darkness of the 2's. I think if we played Earl instead of Paul Chapman we would lose nothing ("making a contest" is the lowest expectation possible for a ruckman), but the kid would benefit hugely from 30-40 minutes exposure with the big boys.

Be an interesting move if we did play Chapman on the W/E.

Not without precedent though yet another Paul . . . . Morwood this time! :D

And thanks Scott for pointing out I meant Paul Chambers rather than Paul Chapman (perhaps it was wishfull thinking on my part?).

BTW did you have anything to offer on the subject of Ruckmen?

If only we still had Saddo.

Carlton have put the "sad" back into Saddo.

I've been waiting to use that line for awhile. Not sure why now tho....

Saddo has been slightly more than decent for Carlton so far.

BTW did you have anything to offer on the subject of Ruckmen? Your welcome. Chapman has had a fantastic year.

I leave the ruckmen observations to you, oh wise one!! ;)

I'd just like to see Chambers be a crash and bash style ruckman until he gains enough confidence to become a quality ruckman.

I'm inclined to agree with you, but in a few weeks time, minimum. I don't think Shaw had any kind of pre-season (off-season groin surgery) and to throw him into the big time when he isn't fit enough wouldn't be fair on him, Chambers or the team.

Unless he gets injured again, I do think we'll see him in the senior team at some point this year, even if only because of injury to either Chambers or Jolly. It is inconceivable that we'll go the whole season without one of them sustaining even a minor injury that forces them to miss the odd game.
