I have to work on Sunday. Could anyone in Melbourne record for me at all?

Will be interesting to see how we A) close the running Doggies down B) get the ball into our forward line considering Playfair has been rushed in.

I cannot believe the irony of seeing those shots from the 2005 final when the ruck contest Playfair lost led to Davis's winning goal. And now he is taking Davis' spot in the same team!

The delightful irony of sport, I guess. ;)

Seriously, just give it a rest mate. Your input is useless and your sarcasm is self-defeating.

The Doggies are carving us up around the stoppages, and even when we have the ball, we're finding it literally impossible to break past half-forward.

Jack just goals after a Doggies turnover and some good running from Mattner. We only look like scoring when we're at full flight.

Absolutely zero options up forward.

I don't think there will be a major shift in our game plan in 3rd Q. Knowing Roos he'll go into lock down game trying to score from clearances. I think we're gone.

Mogg0
4th May 2008, 03:22 PM
Spot on Bloods, we've little chance of taking contested marks in the forward 50, mainly because the Dogs are flooding back and all our forward options lack height when compared with their opponents.

We need quick movement into the forward line, because that's the ONLY time in that quarter where we appeared damaging.

TheGrimReaper

It's an interesting stage. If we go into lockdown, which is most likely, you can only imagine it's to stop the run on and hope we snare one or two goals to their nil. I guess that will leave us close for an expected run late in the last quarter. Possible clash of styles in the second half.

Analyse the game mate, give it a rest with the misguided observations.

Roosy needs to get the boys to break the game open, because the lockdown stuff won't work agaisnt the Doggies. They're too quick and slick and if we need to keep the forward line open if we have any chance of mounting a comeback.

Many errors again this time some who dont often do it. Kirk trying a little over the top, Ben M letting the ball go thru legs, I know Nick D doesnt seem as if he chases but there are a lot of others who should be dropped. What about kicking for goal they obviously dont do much practice the Bullies dont seem to miss, OKeefe McVeigh Moore. Goodes is not good when he gets a serious tagger, should put him in a set possie like CHF and kick it to him. I feel like turning off the TV " " me off really the way they played in that quarter.

Analyse the game mate, give it a rest with the misguided observations.

Roosy needs to get the boys to break the game open, because the lockdown stuff won't work agaisnt the Doggies. They're too quick and slick and if we need to keep the forward line open if we have any chance of mounting a comeback.
Another big difference to past years is that this season the 'Dogs have really worked hard on improving their contested footy game.

Foreign Legion
4th May 2008, 03:35 PM
Terrible qtr of football by the Swans - we looked slow, error ridden and maybe even disinterested.

I dunno why Roos persists with Craig Bolton on Murphy - he is getting killed. It is OK to show faith in a player but you need to make a move to stop the bleeding eventually.

You would think Jolly and Everitt would be a formidable ruck tandem - we are getting killed in the ruck. The only bloke getting the ball away from stoppages is Goodes.

I don't think I've seen our backmen play such a bad qtr. Wish we could kick straight and take advantage of our opportunites like the Dogs did.

Supposedly professional footballers who can't kick -even though they train 6 days a week - makes me sick.

We GAVE them that game through our own inept disposal.

363 v 315 disposals and we still don't even get close - that is a BIG worry. Bad kicking has cost us 3 games this year I reckon.

93 marks according to afl.com.au - wow highest I've seen for a while - how come we didnt win?

I reckon the only Swans players who convincingly beat their opponents were Goodes, O'Keefe, Moore and Barry. Anyone noticed a trend with Mick? He doesn't want to take a set shot if he can help it.

Canberra league standard has finally bitten us on the arse. Bird back to 2's. Roos rotates too much in my opinion - Goodes off the ground with 10 minutes to go! There is a bye next week for @@@@s sake!

i wacthed richmond and stkilda last night and the tigers were more impressive than us, they just go for it. you can tolerate mistakes when a side backs itself and tries to create play eg barlow late

He's best friends with Brad Johnson, enough said.

Sydney had more shots at goal but failed to convert many of them. They outpossessed the Doggies in the midfield but failed to shut down their attacking style of footy and let Cooney and Johnson kick 5 and 4 goals respectively. We dominated in hitouts and tackles but didn't result in much positive for the Swans.

Fortunately the Victoria vs. Dream Team game is on next week but the clash against Essenscum at ANZ in a fortnight's time is a must-win clash otherwise our chance of making the finals this year is pretty much over.

mcs
4th May 2008, 05:04 PM
Matthews was the replacement for Ablett, with Playfair replacing Davis.

Overall, I thought a really disappointing performance after 1/4 time. Looked alright in the 1st term but then were simply second best for the majority of the rest of the game. And like time and time and time and time again in the 3rd term when we got on top we failed to make them pay at all on the scoreboard with some very pathetic shots at goal wasting some big chances to give ourselves a proper shot at the victory.

We do need to make some changes, and sadly after an excellent start to the season, we have again thrown it away and from here even with a reasonable draw for the next 6 weeks its going to be tough work. We desperately need a fit Malceski back as well- I hope he is recovering as well as it has been said as our delivery into the forward 50 is absolutely dreadful unless we kick only to the edge of the 50 which makes the kicks at goal so much more difficult then if we can find marks 25-30 metres out.
Some players really need a jab up the rear end, and some simply arent good enough at the top level anymore. Matthews showed why he hasnt been playing and shouldnt play again and Leo Barry is getting beaten most weeks now and is more of a liability then an asset for the team more often then not.
Overall, another game we quite probably should of won but simply were not good enough across the park.
