Gold Coast anoints McKenna as long-term coach (http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl/story/0,26576,24177535-19742,00.html)

GOLD COAST chiefs say Guy McKenna is almost certain to coach GC17's first AFL team in 2011.

The Collingwood assistant coach and West Coast premiership defender was yesterday named as the Gold Coast's development coach, beating Brad Scott and Craig McRae for the role.

While McKenna is hopeful of turning the role into a full-time senior coaching job when the Gold Coast enters the AFL, Gold Coast bosses were more emphatic.

He's only been promised 2 years, then they will review his position. You would reckon that if he does well his contract would be extended.IMHO it wont get extended because they plan to go with youth and they normally take a fair few years to develop, hence not so successful.

It's one hurdle removed for Buckley becoming Collingwood coach.

What seat? I reckon GC will tell him to get @@@@@@. McKenna will do a sound job and get another contract. So Voss will have to wank his way somewhere else.

I think McKenna would make a great coach for the new team. Don't think Voss' heart is in it. There could be other jobs opening up in the AFL that could suit Voss better in the next couple of years.
