Summary
With 2 rounds remaining, the battle for a finals spot intensifies. Queanbeyan are breathing down our necks just 2 points behind, and they take on 3rd placed Ainslie.

Injuries to Craig Bird (seniors), Amon Buchanan and Tim Schmidt (both reserves) last week will deplete the reserves stocks for this week's game. With this game being played at the same time as the seniors game, and with injury clouds over ROK and Jolly, it is likely one or more emergencies will be hanging around in Melbourne. A weakened team, playing one of the stronger sides in the comp and playing away from home - it will be an extremely difficult task for the Swans to triumph.

Queanbeyan beat Ainslie today, so as it stands they take our spot in the top 4.

Thanks Ugg. I read Monty is having knee surgery - poor Timbo cannot take a trick - Birdy, bugger.

Hope the toppies take them on, as well as the twos. And that they include some of those huge toppies we got in the last game (big as seasoned players).

Good luck guys.

Heard from a good source today that there will be some Toppies from Sydney on the bus going down to ACT. When we play in Canberra normally all the toppies come from the ACT League. Not sure whats happening there? When we played Queanbeyan couple weeks ago we also had Dylan McNeil (Rams U18 capt), be good to have him on board for Sunday as he really fitted in well! Injuries and NO bench eventually cost us against Belconnen, was a great performance and we really need to replicate that again, but with regular player stocks fading fast it will be a tall order. Hope they can put in a big one. See there was a nice yarn on Nathan Gordon on Swans website also.
Laidlaw fit to play you reckon ugg???? We certainly need him as a focus up front!

Just going by the official injury list - Laidlaw was not listed.

He's also listed in this list of players, which includes the 3 emergencies.

We need to beat Tuggeranong @ ANZ next week and hope Eastlake beat Queanbeyan otherwise the Reserves won't make the finals.

So probably Malceski or Barry for McVeigh next week, if nobody else really stood out.

I'll take Leo thanks. At least you know he will have a go. Why would you bother with Malceski against a top 2 side?

Depending on the toppies we get, I believe we can win. Thing is Queanbeyan have been hitting some good form of late and an upset v Eastlake is certainly on the cards. Word was half the team today was toppies? Be a shame to miss finals fever in the 2's after the good performace against the top side last week. Thing is we lose another to replace McVeigh. Need Murphy back in as a minimum - why didnt he play today??

I thought he was "off" last week, so perhaps it was something like flu, which can drain you completely. Oh lord listen to me. OK, he probably wasn't fit enough.

I get the giggles when I think of the commentators dealing with bottin-noonan (or bootin' nothin') in days to come.
I say Armitage was named in the best. What is his story?
Did Bevo play?

Will be interesting to see where he goes.

Will be a monty to go to us as a pre-listed NSW rookie, but is highly un-likely to not be taken in the draft himself.

Probably not an 8th pick, but could last to our 24th, if we are interested.

As a matter of minor 'for the nerds' stats detail: even if Queanbeyan upset Eastlake, we can still slip into the 4 if the combined margin of us beating Tuggers, and Belconnen beating Ainslie, is around 191 points. Just roughly.

I think you mean Belconnen beating Ainslie. The last time we played Tuggeranong we won by 71 and Belconnen beat Ainslie by 75. So not quite.
