Mod and Braba made the team of the year. Only these two plus Gilchrist would have played enough to feature

Plus probably DOK.

But yes, so few Swans played many games and even when they did, there were so few of them out there that the team struggled to function cohesively.

Shows you how much I think (or do not think) of him.

Looks like it's Gilly who ROKster was referring to.

I reckon for Gilchrist to go within a couple of games of winning the gong, albeit in a very low-scoring medal, is a feather in his cap. Even though retirements have made the kids' jobs easier, could this be the first year in living memory (ever?) where every rookie-listed player has still been with us the next year?

Would normally be reluctant to recommend someone for draft consideration based on 'mere' AFL Canberra form, but if we feel we want a power-forward (Jesse White clone) for depth, esp presuming Playfair gets the arse, we should give co-Mulrooney Medal winner Chad Gibson a thorough medical and a chat. National drafted about #28 by the Crows in 2004; they let him go end '06 because they doubted if his poor injury record would get better. They seemed to be right; things didn't improve much over the next 2 years in the SANFL with Norwood, albeit he played some promising footy on those intermittent occasions he did get on the park. Seemed to be mostly shoulders rather than soft tissue injuries impeding him. Finally wandered away from the SANFL end '08 and joined Eastlake to see if his injury luck would turn; now it seems it well and truly has, as he played pretty much every game in '09. Seemingly played ruck this year for Eastlake, but too short/not suited for that at AFL level. Is a classic CHF type. Not certain, but probably still young enough to rookie too.
