What a peanut, we have played 1 of 3 at ANZ

Stupid article. Our SCG crowds have been quite good so far.

What a stupid article to write just before the Swans are about to go into the 2nd half of season that includes two ANZ Matches sitting in the 8 at 7-5.

We could potentially get high crowds at both ANZ games and average over 30K at the SCG which could even make the year the best since 06.

I thought if anything that the crowds were up this year! All the SCG games (bar the freo one) looked to have pretty good attendances on the TV. These journalists write just @@@@ sometimes

It's not your imagination, it's our third best year for attendences at the SCG. So this is a quality article

Average
2010 28,392
2009 26,865
2008 25,401
2007 25,222
2006 30,402
2005 28,733
2004 26,880
2003 26,423

I wonder if the same nuffy will write a "Swans' buoyed by increase in crowds" article in three weeks

So Reggi, where did you get your crowd figures from? Seem right to me. The ones in the paper made me scratch my head as I read it in the paper.

I thought the crowds were up this year at the SCG at least.

Thanks for that. Interesting site and brought back memories of games I attended. That 96 game against Geelong which was Ablett's last game in Sydney was very memorable. First biggest crowd of many to follow.

We get 60k against the pies (not an unreasonable expectation) our average in 7 games goes to 33,327 which means this story is just poor journalism.

The journalist is comparing part of a season in which only 1 game has been played at ANZ to full seasons in which 3 games have been played at ANZ - of course the averages will be lower!

Come back to us at the end of the season with the crowd averages and then you'll be comparing apples with apples

Oh dear David, I can't beleieve you actually wrote that article and used those figures.

If you are going to use figures to back an arguement then compare like for like and not include the Collingwood game in one set and not in the other. Otherwise make refence to the SCG crowds being up this year so far.

Going to look like a really bad article if both the Collingwood and Geelong games draw more than 40,000 each which they are likley to do if our form holds.

No, the hack will just say "Swans crowds recover after slow start" or some other garbage. Seriously, why are we wasting the epidermal cells on our fingers typing about this?

Not wrong. I rocked up 15 minutes beforehand and was proper indignent that I had to search for a seat! I used to have the pick of the whole stadium. Got my first proper "them and us" insight that game.

Silly article really. It is only 6 games into the Season, with two blockbusters remaining at Homebush. I think it is likely that the two Homebush games will get about 100,000 total. Then you've got two big SCG games, Hawthorn and Bulldogs, which should gather a total of 65,000. Only the SCG Melbourne and Kangaroos games will be undercapacity, but I would still predict a total of 50,000.

So that leaves another 215,000, or just under 400,000 for the season, or about 33,500 on average, ranking it the 5th best EVER, in the club's very long 100 plus year history, behind only 1997, 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Seems to be reasonably steady figures. I think the sydney supporters are rusted on now. The ficklessness of supporters is no worse than most clubs

Goodness.

We're averaging 28-odd thousand for 2010 ... and we're only half way through.

Maybe journos should ask for learned advice from the nerds and geeks before they save their documents.

I put our average at 30,982, so essentially 31K. Quite respectable really, although second half performance will be interesting

After that crap on Saturday night, we'll be lucky to get 20,000 to the North game

If so that'll be 19,900 Swans masochists and 10 Roos team's relatives.
