Hi Scott,

I think you've got Moore in there - should probably be less. I may be wrong, I've voted, so I can't double-check without some fart-arsery.

Cheers,

I wan to take my votes back as I just watched the replay and was reminded how well Jude played...but who do I take out....and how do you weigh up grunt work against the ephemeral.

So pleased with how Jude's goal kicking has improved from about 4 years ago. Hats off to n him

ScottH
5th April 2011, 10:10 AM
Not sure if his goal kicking has improved. He's just had more opportunity, this year. He's always been pretty accurate from set shots.

PS: If you want to alter the votes let me know.

It was how his name came up when I first started building the numbers database. I'm pretty sure it was on the Swans Website that way. Maybe there were other Nick Smiths around for the Swans or other clubs.

I say this partially in jest, but could you, somehow big-brother the forum to force people to vote before viewing any other R&W pages? Even if there is a fourth option to say "I don't care enough about the game to vote" or something along those lines.
As I type this I realise it is not really feasible:
you are forcing people to vote may not give a true reflection of their thoughts on the game as they may rush the vote to "get it over and done with"
you may lose members who, and rightly so, believe they should be allowed to participate without being forced to do something extra they really don't want to
and who could be bothered with the programming....(it could be easy or hard I have no idea)

I actually typed this whilst being completely overtired and was going to delete it but I thought it would atleast serve as a ....

Poor form boys and girls, some of you might have to be dropped to the 2's if this continues.

Do you know who is leading this weeks vote count?
Is it who you thought was best on ground?
Maybe not, so you better make your vote count, so the best player actually gets top votes this round.

I set the recorder for the replay on Tue morning to watch the replay before voting because you miss so much at the ground when sitting at ground level, much more so than my preferred position higher in the stands.

Sat down after work to watch and about 30secs before Ted's hit on Gilbee in the second quarter, the channels start changing before settling on Channel V.

Yep, Miss 18yo had dragged herself downstairs and commandeered the TV without realising I was recording the footy. Since when does a teenager who has the day off get out of bed before midday???? And she has her own foxtel box and connection upstairs in her own teen retreat.

ScottH
12th May 2011, 10:05 AM
Time to change the locks!!!

That's pretty poor that the box allows someone to change the channel that is being recorded.

It doesn't let you change what it's recording as far as I know, but the recorder just knows it's recording the Foxtel feed. If somebody changes the channels on Foxtel, than obviously what's getting recorded also changes.

It's also been the hardest game to vote on all year by a country mile. I voted after I watched the replay and I still felt like I'd ripped a few off cause there was sooooo many standout performances.

One way of looking at it Jewels, is that most people vote for the top 1 or 2 players, so they are usually streaks ahead.
The the next X number of players all struggle to gain a clear advantage of the others in that group, so it gets a bit messy and sometimes the better players in that group miss out on a top 5 finish because of this anomaly.
So sometimes it worth not voting for the standouts!! ;)

I wish you had imparted this wisdom on me earlier Scott!
I never gave Rhycey a vote and I was so annoyed at myself for it cause (while I do have a rather large soft spot for him and forgive most transgressions anyway) I thought he was magnificent on Saturday but I decided he was number four magnificent.

But it then lacks credibility.

Some games are just hard to vote on, but that's just the way it is. Take the Richmond game for example. From memory Joey was a lock for 3 votes and somebody else was good for 2, but whoever got 1 vote probably had a shocker, but not as bad as the rest. To think a player got 1 vote for being 3rd best in that game, yet a dozen players (conservative) had better games on Sat against Geelong than the 1 vote getter v Richmond, but get nothing.

Well, it just gives people some food for thought when voting.

What I see so often is a player who has been good all game, get a heap of 1 votes. Fair enough. There were probably players better than them.
But then another player will get a few 1 votes, but then some one will give them a 3 coz they had a 5 min burst, to suddenly jump up the ladder, when the first player had a better, day.

But you are still free to vote for whom ever you wish.

Absolutely.

On reading your response, I may have mis-interprted your 'So sometimes it worth not voting for the standouts!!'

Did you mean standouts on the day, which I think is what should be voted on or it lacks credibility, or are you saying that people just generally vote for the standout players in the team ie. Goodes, Bolton, Goodes and Goodes?

One of those 4, might have an outstanding period of a 10 minutes and not be seen for the rest of the game, where as a backman/tagger will shut down a player and go unnoticed.

Really? I found it almost the hardest game of the year so far tbh.

I thought ROK, Macca, Rhyce, Joey, Benny, Teddy, Marty, Goodes, Smooch, Mummy all had claims for Top 3 in varying places.

My 3 are definitely in there. :five:

They were all great don't get me wrong but from my perspective there were 3 just ahead of the rest.

ps: Scott can you PM who I voted for, I've forgotten.
