Does anybody know what is going on in Sydney to welcome the boys home?

According to this, it is today:

But surely the boys need some sleep and something will be on tomorrow?

The 2005 parade was one of my highlights, but have heard nothing this time around.

I've heard it's Friday but no announcement from the club as yet.

They probably want to wait and see when the NRL Premiers want to do their parade thru Sydney streets....

Oh, hang on a minute....

Settle petals. 2005 was the first in 72 years. This is only, what, seven years later. the NRL don't get street parades, don't expect the AFL in sydney to get one either. Onward and upward to the CC Dinner. I have NO idea who is going to win anything anymore.

Would have thought it would have been announced by now (assuming we get one)? When was the 05 parade held?

I'm pretty sure the '05 one was the Friday after the game, but I could be wrong

Friday is the Club Champion Dinner, would they do both events on the same day?

Agree. The 2005 win was 'unique' hence the street parade. Happily that victory is no longer an only child, with the downside that a street parade would likely not be under consideration this time around.

I agree with you Prims. It would b great to have a parade but I don't expect there to be one and surely if there were, we would have heard by now.

The footy gods are STILL smiling on me.
I normally sit on reception at work on a Friday; and one of the girls wanted to swap with me for today!!

Pleasantly surprised! I wasn't sure if we'd get one this year since we only broke a whopping 7-year premiership drought this time, as opposed to 72, but I think this is fitting celebration for the Swans' 30 years in Sydney. Hope I can duck out of the office for a bit at lunchtime to soak up some of the atmosphere.

Didn't think we'd get one, clearly Premier O'Farrell is keen on a feel good story! ;)

Whatever the reason, stoked that the parade will be on!

Probably about an hour, I'll try to be at the Town Hall end from around 12:30 as I work near there, hopefully I can get a good spot!

The 2005 street parade was televised on 10. Does anyone know if Channel 7 is doing something similar? Perhaps on Seven Mate?

Bloomin' hot here next to the Town Hall steps - pretty good turn out for the parade by the looks of it. I reckon people will make some noise when the boys show up...

I didn't see Benny McGlynn anywhere - he deserved to be in the parade and to me, that was the only downer to what was a great event.

Unfortunately even though Benny was essential to the team making the GF, only the 22 who played got to go on the vehicles.

I was at the Overseas Passanger Terminal end and managed to get a few autographs and thank them personally for their great work last Saturday before the mega Crowd adulation commenced.

Does anyone want to talk about the City of Sydney Council member speech who droned on and on and on. And he couldn't even pronounce Horse's surname right leading to groans from our section in front of Woolies. You plonker!

Apparently Barry O'Farrell according to Colless is a fully paid member of the Swans. I think he has been a member for a while before he became Premier?

I got a laugh and a wave of acknowledgement from Rhys Shaw and Hanners after I yelled out

" Left my scooter outside the dairy - NEK MINUTE"

Like most of the middle aged and older generation I did not understand Rhys' quote when presented with his medal

I asked my 20 something son who told me - what a classic, check it out on you tube and its even on Wikipedia

For those who made it to Lakeside last morning, you'd know about Mummy and his green shoes. I yelled out to him today asking where they were and while I couldn't hear his response, it seemed to be something along the lines of "they wouldn't let me, I had to wear these" as he lifted his leg up to show off his black shoes...

Great photos everyone! I managed to get on the barrier, after the second fire truck came through outside Woollies (an extra bit of excitement for the day!!). Took a photo of each of the players cars, but this is my favourite - love the 'Yay for McVeigh' banner in the background.
