Says you can pre order a blue ray version here AFL Premiers 2012: Sydney Swans Victory Pack (Bluray): Games101 Australia: Your online discount store for new video, computer & console games + cheap Bluray movies (http://www.games101.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=19490&osCsid=958072ee60020de4997c488270c83866). I sent an email to Playbill yesterday asking them if a box-set will be released (ala 2005).
Was told that the release date will be mid November (just in time for xmas).

I wonder if it will have a season highlights DVD similar to Sensational Swans in 2005. It would be nice to have.

The Grand Final DVD with the different radio versions is out now.

Kmart has it at $32 for those that can't wait.

The box set will probably retail around the $100 as did the last one and I can't imagine it dropping in price too much. Won't be enough volume of sales.

We had one extra final in 2005 so to make it a 5 set they would have to pad it out with something.

Alternatively, they just release a 4 DVD set and still charge you $100. Is my guess.

I remember the 05 thing vividly. Sanity had actually mispriced it. Mrs Doctor knew I wanted it for Christmas so I spoiled the magic a bit by telling her where to get it but she saved $50 so it was well worth it.

Missus spotted it at JB Hifi for $25 I think.

There was no official announcement yet when the new Victory pack will be released and, if at all, will be available on Blu-ray. Sports Delivered web site has nothing yet on this release. If judging how they released last year Geelong Premiership pack I imagine it would be available sometime in November and probably the pack will be on DVD only. They might release the GF on Blu-ray, but still waiting for the web site to announce it. JB HiFi is only listing the current DVD release, but nothing else, which means I would wait and not pre-order anything until there's some certainty about the release date followed by the DVD/Blu-ray art work.

Not being rude , but why?
No one I know even has a Blu-ray player. And as someone mentioned already DVD sales volume may pretty small by itself.

Blu-Ray has been the premium standard for about 4-5 years. Plenty of people i know have blu-ray players by now as the cost of the players have dropped significantly to under $200 (Also alot of people would have a Playstation 3 around which doubles up as a blu-ray player).

Sport (especially AFL) is best viewed in Full High Definition which is what channel 10 have been providing when they had the rights. All if not most of us have a capable 1080P high definition tv by now and the @@@@ty 576P standard the DVD provides us (and i'm not including the lame upscale DVD players do) does not cut it in 2012.

Geelong had their 2011 grand final filmed in High Def and had a victory pack released in blu http://compare.ebay.com.au/like/330789220082?ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes so i dare say i would expect to get the same treatment a year later. It's just ridiculous that Channel 7 due to ratings decided not to show the Grand Final on Seven Mate (their high definition channel)

Sorry, Jeffers, but the Victory pack was not released on Blu-ray. As I mentioned in my previous post, only the GF was released on Blu-ray. The pack in your link is a special edition with 3 discs: 1 Blu-ray with the GF and 2 DVD's with season highlights and a documentary. See the link below:
http://www.sportsdelivered.com/product.php?productid=5552&cat=704&page=1.
Until I see some specific info about the Blu-ray release, I'm not pre-ordering anything.

Yup, you're right. Even so, a Blu-Ray version of the grand final will be sufficient enough for me.

Disk format is dead - they should just have it as a download instead! C'mon Telstra, pull your finger out and have some HD download available!

God I hope they release all the finals in the box set like 2005-season highlights are all very good but the finals series in a dinky little red box becomes a family heirloom! My 2005 box will be the first thing rescued when the house is alight/bombs drop/floods come etc, long before the wife and kids and just before the signed WEG/Knight premiership posters. Maybe we should start a petition.

So with the Ch7 issues am I better getting the DVD or Blue Ray. I don't mind paying the extra for the Blue Ray if I'm getting a better picture.

I have the 2005 box set and I'm looking forward to this year's!

One thing - I get heartily sick of the commentary (after countless viewings of 2005 I could probably verbatim it - "and the Swans are into the Grand Final!!!"). I've sent an email to Sportsvids or whatever they're called, asking them to make a "crowd noise" only soundtrack option available. That's so we can listen to the crowd without hearing the Ch7 or SEN or whatever commentary. Anyone else care to send them a message?
