Some mates and I were going to do a Bloodbath reenactment, but it didn't quite workout.
Ted Whitfield was the main theme of the story - AFL Round 14 ? Sydney v Carlton: Not exactly a bloodbath (http://bit.ly/163tBs7)

Probably also explains why the umpires don't give us a fair go , they must have long memories. I'd love to know how the goal umpire got involved in all of that.

Yes, a great story but what about that photo with the Lake Oval's beautiful red grandstand in the background? Magnificent!

Great story

Brings back memories. this article is no exaggeration. I still have vivid memories of a number of these incidents, particularlyWhitfield pulling the jumper over his head with the umpire chasing him to try to get his number ,and the hits of Nash on Chitty and Basher Williams on Hands. Actually these two incidents eventually had a negative result for the Swans. Hands was in the process of being carried from the ground just before half time, which in those days would have prevented him taking any further part in the game, when the bell rang to end the first half. When play resumed he returned ,and played a pivotal part in the Carlton revival along with Chitty who was moved to the forward line kicking a couple of important goals

Great article - the guardian Oz website is really going well imo. Much better then the dribble on most other news websites these days.
