NEAFL 2014 Round 5

Brisbane Lions Reserves v Sydney Swans Reserves

Friday 25th April 2014 2:15pm
Harrup Park Mackay

Match being streamed live Brisbane Lions v Sydney Swans LIVE - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44Gg29tk_DQ)

It will be the second clash this year, with the Swans walking away with a surprisingly comfortable 54 point win in Round 1. The win broke a run of 4 straight victories by the Lions, who will be hoping to re-establish their edge over the Swans, this time in the northern Queensland city of Mackay.

Brisbane will be boosted by the return of some senior players into the senior players, with their reserves team benefiting in turn by having a few youngster dropping back down to reserve grade.

Weird. Game time on NEAFL site says 1.30pm but stream time is still 2.15pm. Confused? Join the club. Thanks Ugg you have done wonders once again. Be interesting to see how, ROK, Mitchell & Rohan go this week. A fit Mitchell is a quality mid and Rohan can only get better with longer game time. I looks like either BJ or Sammy will be first emergency, probably BJ as he isn't named in the Twos.

Very interested to see how Toby and Paddy go against the big Lions boys. Good confidence booster for Zac to get named as an emergency. ROK & Membrey to kick 10 each lol.

Apparently a massive delay on the stream. Someone at the game just tweeted the score is 26-12 to Swans and on the stream we haven't had one score yet on either side.

Stream is dead. I give up. Apparently Membrey kicked our only goal in the 2nd half so the final goalscorers are:

Membrey 3 Robinson 2 Towers 1 Davis 1

Good to see Tommy Mitchell put his head down and find some form.

I can't imagine he'll be out of the seniors for long.

PS: Once again nothing significant from Towers

Rohan not in the best again..

26th April 2014, 12:50 AM
From the part of the game I watched (Almost to half time - took an eternity due to the stream), Rohan never really got into the game. Not suprising though, as it was a bog they were playing in, and there was lots of in close scrimmaging going on.

Are we really going to keep bringing up the name of some late first rounder every time he supposedly underperforms?

Let it go.

To be fair, I think this is the first time Towers' name has been brought up.

Is Tom Mitchell an automatic selection when fit and in form I wonder ? His best footy is very good but it's in and under and mostly handballs ( at his best, ridiculously good handballs, which we haven't seen this year IMO) So if he's firing , does he fit in the the team balance ? He has looked super slow in every game he has played thus far. Wasn't winning the ball so that obviously didn't help his cause but I just wonder if and when he is playing at his peak , who makes way for him ??

When fit, I think he is in the 22. He is too good in and under to leave out in today's style of football - well that's what I think anyway.

When fit, not necessarily, when in form, absolutely...
