Tom McCartin shouldn't have left his man there. Cost a goal.

Can't stand Walters the way he plays for frees.

Skills are a little off so far...we can't hit a target.

Seriously have we forgotten the stand rule?? No excuses.

That one with Tabener was 1 Million percent a free to us but as usual, we don't get it.

Someone needs to follow/negate Cox in our forward line.

I think Florent has been pretty good.

How was Papley not being held?? Do we have West Australian umpires?

dejavoodoo44

If that was a legal handball in the Heeney tackle, then surely it was deliberate out of bounds?

Faunac8
16th July 2022, 09:06 PM
We can regroup and refocus it will be hard for the Dockers to keep that pressure up. Maybe showing some bias but the umpires seem to be very lenient with their interpretation of incorrect disposal I reckon there were three occasions where Dockers either outright dropped the ball or threw it.

The 50s were there. The umpire called Stand twice but both Amartey and Buddy moved backwards off the mark. I hate the Stand rule. But I agree in general the umpires aren't paying what we deserve.

Nico

They look physically stronger than us. We have to win the centre clearances to get it forward. Their forward defence work is good. They get so many around the stoppages in their forward line.

No, but Meredith and Gavine are almost always crap. Fremantle getting away with so much holding, pushing and scragging off the ball.

I would hope that Hickey, Buddy, McInerney and Blakey lift in the 2nd half - they have all been below their usual standards.

If Walters got a free for every time he stages we would not need a season - just give Freo the Flag in late March.

Not that it matters now but I was sure that Banfields goal in that quarter went over the goal post not beside and when they replayed it on Fox then one of the commentators said they thought the same thing the graphic of the ball trajectory certainly placed it over or just to the right of the goal post.

Fantastic win . That is what my old man used to call a "bottler " !

Chad is our best player now . Not even close .
Defense outstanding - Rampe in everything, Mccartins good , how good was that 1 v 1 win by Paddy on the wing ?
Fox shutting me up .
Florent a defender , looks good
Blakey poor at first but came good , so too Jmac
My other favourite Errol .. well .. what a star !
Hayward shut me up . See his marking technique , i like it. Protects the ball in his chest well . Buddy could learn.
Our leaders are some of the best in the comp - Rampe , Parker , Mills all generals . Mills 9 tackles !
Dylan had his moments , he will play again next week . Clarke good at stopping easy exits .

Listen to me yarning . Fantastic coaching and BLOODS performance . Spoke about Bobby earlier in the week and i know he would 've been watching and very PROUD

What a great win. It's been said, but the coaches' strategy of chipping the ball around worked. Actually reminded me a bit of Hawthorn's tactics a few years ago. It's nice to know we are skillful and composed enough to pull that off. It takes nerve to see it out and not bomb it long.

We beat a very good side tonight, on their home court and after being down 22 points.

We played so well as a team. Did the right things at the right time. Executed to perfection. Maybe we've finally turned the corner this year and will continue to play like this consistently.

Warner was the standout, but many others also did well, including our entire defensive unit. Hayward's 2nd half was excellent; he worked so hard off the ball and contested well all over the ground. Gulden is so skillful. Hickey also picked up his game in the 2nd half.

Aprilbr
16th July 2022, 11:26 PM
I would describe that as a great tactical win. We adjusted our game to stop them rebounding with ease by zoning back. We countered through a high possession chipping game. It was not pretty to watch - but it was extremely effective in that second half. I think that the footy chat shows in coming days will have a field day analysing our tactics.

A special shout out to Dylan Stephens’ last two minutes.

One - that play after the Freo clearance after their goal. He was so calm on a big moment.

Two - the ball bobbling around on our half forward line, he surged in at it, punched it forward, then made his way on to the chain of handballs and slotted the goal so sweetly.

That stuff defines a player.

Totally agree. Dylan has often looked a little like the 3rd wheel in a relationship. He has just lacked confidence to back himself but those last few plays were really strong. Such are the vagaries of drafting. I can't really recall what the knock on him was at the time? Tries hard, but not that skilful? Highlight reel not pretty enough?

And I also still chuckle at Errol not being bid on till pick 32. Thought he was brilliant tonight. A couple of clutch goals and some perfect touches.

Another draft bargain, although it's taken a while, is Amartey. He's starting to have a big influence with important goals, deft touches and the sort of pack crashing that gives the smalls a chance.
