Hi and welcome to another edition of The Manager?s Corner and round 8 of the SAFL Division 1 Premiership. It is also the weekend that senior football returns to the Erskineville area with the inaugural seniors match between UTS and Penrith at Alan Davidson Oval on Saturday afternoon.

I will review the match at Macquarie Uni between the winless Macquarie Uni and Penrith and I will preview the Redandwhiteonline.com match of the day at Alan Davidson Oval between UTS and Penrith.

Last weekend the Rams traveled to Roger Sheeran Oval to take on Macquarie Uni. Macquarie Uni were looking to register its first win of the year and Penrith were looking for another win to consolidate their position on the ladder. Would the Kookas be successful or would the Rams have their first win against the Kookas since 2000? Let?s cross out to Roger Sheeran and have a look at the action.

In the first quarter, the Rams came out firing and had 2 goals on the board before Mac Uni could get the ball forward. Macquarie Uni?s first goal was quickly followed by another Rams goal and the Rams took an 11 point lead into the first break.

Quarter Time: Penrith 3.2=20 Macquarie Uni 1.3=9

In the second quarter, Penrith slowed to a walk as a rampant Macquarie University piled on 8 goals to 2 to turn an 11 point quarter time deficit into a commanding 24 point lead at the major break

Half Time: Macquarie Uni 9.4=58 Penrith 5.4=34

In the third quarter, Penrith attacked hard and put the first couple of goals on the board to reduce the margin to 12 points with 15 minutes to play in the quarter. This immediately woke Macquarie Uni up and they proceeded to kick the next 3 unanswered goals as the Kookas re-established their lead of 34 points at the final break.

Three Quarter Time: Macquarie Uni 12.11=83 Penrith 7.7=49

In the last quarter, Penrith added 4 goals and Macquarie Uni 5 goals. Macquarie Uni ended up winning by 40 points

Final Score: Macquarie Uni 17.14=116 defeated Penrith 11.10=76

In other games

Parramatta by 6 points over Norwest Jets

South west Sydney by 41 points over Manly

Cronulla by 8 points over UTS

UNSWES by 2 points over Wollongong

Now to the Redandwhiteonline.com match of the day

UTS v Penrith at Alan Davidson Oval

Senior football finally returns to Erskineville tomorrow when UTS take on Penrith at Alan Davidson oval.

This match was transferred from UTS? home ground at Trumper Park through to Alan Davidson Oval

due to clashing of games with their junior competition.

Penrith go into all clashes tomorrow nursing depleted lineups but should hold themselves well against UTS.

UTS come into this game having lost to Cronulla in a thriller last week but should be too good for Penrith.

Saying this though, Penrith will come out fighting and should test UTS.

My tip is UTS but only just

Thanks and Regards
