Does a kick in count as a disposal?

I don't think that's a dumb question.

No.

But you get a stat by chipping it to yourself (not counted) then kicking again (counted), right?

Yes.

One that has interested me, a hand-pass to oneself?

What about Goodes kicking up the sideline(oops) and recovering the ball again himself, ala Campese.

What a stat gatherer!!!

PS. If he had makred his own kick is that a Mark, providing it went 15m?

I think Goodes' chip n chase would have been counted as a disposal.

I'd guess the little handball up along the boundary line before regathering would be counted as one too.

Maybe the general rule might be if an opponent has a chance to recover the ball, then its a disposal (with the little kick to yourself from a kick in obviously not giving anyone else a chance to recover the ball).

A disposal is a touch and you need to touch the ball to kick it.
