after the pasting I copped when I asked where we play home finals about 3 months ago, I can't help but feel there are a heap of hypocrites posting in this thread

Name names, put the blow torch to the bellies.

12 weeks is a long time and looking at the table now, the Swans chances have improved significantly since then. However, looking at the chances of Crows, Norf and Blues, their chances of making the top 8 our in that order. Crows have easiest draw to the others and even the Swans.

I think there is no point to pick a team as 1. We haven't made the finals yet; and 2. Injuries and availability.

Keeping it simple, the Swans' best team is basically the 22 who played in Rounds 2-4 inclusive this year, except with Meredith or Rohen and Smith, replacing Jetta and Moore.

Man thinking about the St Kilda, Hawthorn and Richmond game really hurts.... we would be 4th on the ladder right now oh well.

Winning or losing close games can make a huge diiference to where you finish at the end of the year and if we'd won those three, and we easily could/should have, then we'd be eyeing top four. That said we really do need to put away Carton, Tankers and Brissy plus beat at least one in that tough stretch Geelong, Hawthorn, Freo, Dogs.

Whilst we all have our opinions, I'm amazed that Kirk, Jack and McGlynn have been out of some peoples best 22. Kirk whilst probably starting to feel the pinch is still an elite shut down player, Jack has gone to a new level this year and McGlynn would be high in our B&F except for those missed games.

Kirk plays his best in high pressure games, he will be selected no matter what.

If we play finals he will be there whether we like it or not. It wouldn't matter if he was in a wheelchair he would still be picked. Just his presence on the ground would be reason enough. Having said that i stuck him in the forward pocket.

It's also worth noting that Kirk laid 13 tackles on Sunday. The next best was his "Grasshopper" - Kennedy - and Jack with 6 each. That's hardly the sign of an old man slowing down towards the end of the season (despite what was said at the aftermatch about Kirk looking old) but more like a great player planning on going out on a high note.

Good to see the old guys like Boomer and Kirk play as well as they do - and for "young" Keiren to flatten Boomer with that tackle.

Interesting to see everyone thus far pick Kirk.

Although Captain Kirk had a pretty good recent game against the Kangaroos, I suspect he is very close to hitting an ageing wall, and by September he might be just off physically the mark to make a true blue top 22. Afterall, he is no longer in the list of the game's top tacklers.

That said, although sentiment should not play a role, (anyone following cricket and Ian Healy will understand), one must factor in the advantages of his leadership and inspiration role on field. Personally I am in two minds, but would be interested in some feed back.

He's sixth on the list of the competition's top tacklers - I'd think that was still "in the list". And he's ahead of every other Swan, with Jack and B2 behind him. Swallow is ahead of him and we saw how that match up worked out last weekend. Like LRT you may not like the way he plays but there's no doubting his vital role on the team.

Personally, I'd keep him in he was doing nothing just to watch his celebrations when he kicks a goal - it's like watching a three year old after too much red cordial!

McGlynn has been an incredibly consistent when fit... He is basically a shorter combination of Kirk and Jude who kicks goals, easily in our best 22.
