I did the same thing AussieAnge and Moo (tend to be agreeing with you alot today) I counted next year as us having officially been up here for 25 years.
Same as the birthday. I'm in my 37th (OMG I said it aloud) but if asked I'm 36 until December

Embarassing!
A similar situation is happening in the NRL. The Roosters will be celebrating their 100th season next year but the NRL is holding off on centenary celebrations until 2008.

If they employed a half decent events co-ordinator this sort of thing wouldn't happen.
They did celebrate it a year early.Originally posted by AussieAnge
Yes it is 25 years since coming to Sydney but they were advertising as "25 years IN sydney" (my emphasis) and not 25 since arriving in Sydney.
Bit like the millenium argument this one (I still think they celebrated that a year early).

Its the swans 25th year in Sydney. Its 24 years since the first game in 1982.
One of the original NRL clubs(the Roosters) are celebrating their centenary season next year, a year earlier than when the NRL is planning to celebrate. 1908-2007 100 seasons 99 years.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

That's how I saw it when the AFL was celebrating it's "centenary", although IMO the AFL is less than 20 years old IIRC.Originally posted by Big Al

This is upsetting. I had 20 days worth of plans and that's not happening anymore due to the Ball not going through. If I was turning 25, I would celebrate the year I turned 25, not the year after meaning I was 25 years old.
