    The dreaded 'Leadership Group'

I have just read a very disturbing article from the telegraph today....
Not only is Roos sticking with the same team...He will be asking the dreaded leadership group, who they think should stay and who should go.(ie; Once again passing the buck on hard decisions such as trades and delistings )
So we all better be prepared for another season of Mathews, B1, Crouch, McVeigh.
So the question is, who do you think the 'leadership group' will want to trade or delist?

My Bet : The younger players

I have said this before, he is the coach, he should be making the big decisions, not palming them off to the leadership group. This group has failed to show leadership with regards to who plays when unfit, injured or out of form.

C'mon Paul, you are paid the big bucks, now do your job and earn them....make the hard decisions.

Don't know that he is passing the buck, but maybe asking their opinions.
can't see all that much wrong with a bit of transparency.

    Here's the article:
Not afraid of the tough decisions

We will be seeking input and guidance from the leadership group about all of this as well. If they say "no, we would like to go into next year with exactly the same team'', I would have to weigh that up.
Considering some of those under the pump are in the leadership group, I wonder what decision they'll come up with

Roos makes it very clear, that he will give plenty of weight to their suggestions. ie; Passing most of the buck.
If this so called blood brotherhood exists, how can the players be expected to make objective disspassionate decisions? Answer...They can't !

It says input and guidance. I think it's pretty normal in an organisation to ask your "line management" to review their "staff" - just like any performance review process. The leadership group should be reviewing the junior players and providing their input IMO.

It also says they will vote on the leadership group.

Not sure if Mathews and Jude are the best to be assessing this as its their positions that most feel should be opened up to new blood.

    1) A footy club is a unique set up, in that all the players do essentually the same job. To judge those supposedly under them, is to judge themselves. And that can't be done objectively.
2)Why would you want the leadership group reviewing junior players, when they rarely see them play.

A footy club isn't unique in it's structure it has managers and staff. Peer review or 360 degree feedback is good and quite common in any organisation. It's about balance and helps to objectify as sources of feedback on performance are broader than just a top-down approach

Performance is not just about game day. It's about how you prepare and train. The leadership group should be able to comment on those aspects as well as provide thoughts/opinions on the junior members of the senior playing group. These guys are experienced and I would think their opinion would be valuable.
I imagine that the leadership group are able to comment on each other also and then to have the full playing group vote on who is in the leadership group is a good process and seems to be pretty standard across sport teams today.
It's just my view. I think the more comprehensive, open and transparent the review process the better an organisation operates.

I'm interested if you play yourself or are involved in a sporting organisation? If yes, what sort of structure does your club have?

True, that is why sandwichs or canapes are a better option.

As long as they appoint a new leadeship group consisting of:

    Kirk,
    Goodes,
    Kennelly,
    Malceski,
    Davis,
    Buchanan

In the first place, then I'm all for it.
