Hall to step down from captaincy

I actually see this as real leadership on Hally's part, deciding what is best for the team not for Barry Hall.

He's not feared because he can kick goals - he's feared because he can knock you out for a week if he makes conact.

At his best, Barry is the the equal of Brown in the fearsome and goal kicking areas.

I would guess Mr A Goodes this year.

L. Barry to be pushed out next year and the eski to get the captaincy then.

That would make 3 midfielders and no defenders or forwards in 2009.

Is that an issue?

No. Midfielders are perfect for the job.
We need the defenders and fowards to do what they do best ... stop goals and kick goals.

If and when Barry steps down, I'd have thought Craig Bolton is the obvious replacement as a captain defender. He's already in the leadership group and his status as one of the most important players in the current team is surely undisputed.

Malceski's time will come.
