My former heart specialist (now retired at about 80) was an ex South Melbourne club doctor and all we spoke about at my annual January appointments was how the swans did/would go. The state of my heart seemed like a secondary consideration, although he probably realised the two were intimately linked.
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.
Geriatrics.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.
Page 9 of the Daily Tele... Sep 23 1961... has a quarter page ad for 2UW broadcasting that day's Gf from Melb live at 230! Hawthorn V Footscray!!
Bit of fun checking things like that. I was actually at that game..massive hailstorm at 3/4 time, ans we were not under cover!
Just a question to you older RWO members. In the sixties and seventies did you constantly hear discussion about how the game wasnt the same as it was in the fourties and fifities and did the Vfl at the time constantly seek rule changes to make it more like the memory they had of the game at that time.
Actually was just thinking back to my ole high school days (black n white tvs)
remember going round to my wealthy mates place on a saturday arvo and watching VFL on his mums tv..we couldnt afford one lol..so yes now i think about it ..it was broadcast in sydney
GF telecasts started in Syd round the mid 70s i think..I'll check by Tuesday.
Home and home were later.

Mr Magoo very rarely did the vfl back then change rules. The only rule change or re-interpretation of a rule, I can remember from the seventies was the actual way it was deemed you where in possession and the way you disposed of the ball.
Yes all the old timers from the thirties, forties and fifties would always discuss how it was better in there day especially the high marking. No one ever beat the great Bob Pratt for constant high marking for the old time blood supporters.
