Despite last years Grand Final result - the Cats remain quite popular in and around Geelong....

I remember it well because I was holed up in St Vincents Private 1 day after heart surgery. My wife point blank refused to put the game on the TV but I sooked so much she relented on the proviso that if it was close towards the end she would turn it off. My cardilologist came in during the game and found it amusing, but gave me a serious directive to not be stupid if I felt the slightest niggle in the chest.

As an aside, a few weeks after surgery we went to the cardiologist for a checkup. My wife made an enquiry about when it was safe to resume sex. The doc said I should be good to go for it (so to speak) but suggested I refrain from going to the footy for another month. Guess that shows what excites me

    Absolute true story.

    What a hoot!
So triple B really stands for triple bypass?
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

My former heart specialist (now retired at about 80) was an ex South Melbourne club doctor and all we spoke about at my annual January appointments was how the swans did/would go. The state of my heart seemed like a secondary consideration, although he probably realised the two were intimately linked.

    Geriatrics.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Just a question to you older RWO members. In the sixties and seventies did you constantly hear discussion about how the game wasnt the same as it was in the fourties and fifities and did the Vfl at the time constantly seek rule changes to make it more like the memory they had of the game at that time.

Mr Magoo very rarely did the vfl back then change rules. The only rule change or re-interpretation of a rule, I can remember from the seventies was the actual way it was deemed you where in possession and the way you disposed of the ball.

Yes all the old timers from the thirties, forties and fifties would always discuss how it was better in there day especially the high marking. No one ever beat the great Bob Pratt for constant high marking for the old time blood supporters.
