Exclamation R22, AFL 2010 Lions V Swans: Our chances against the Lions

Given the way the Lions performed against Essendon on the weekend, and especially with Mumford out - and McGlynn - I'm feeling a bit nervous about Saturday night at the Gabba.

I know the Lions don't have much to play for, but this game is shaping as a classic "house-wrecker".

Can we cover the absence of Mumford? He does a hell of a lot for us across the ground, and as good as Pyke has become, he's not another Mummy.

Yeah true... It is a worry, Mumford is a huge loss. Roosy said he's looking at White to fill the void, I think a lot will depend on how good of a game he has.

ROK and Moore back in should balance out the loss of mumford. As long as our clearance work stays at the level it's at, this should be a certain win.

I don't really like this. White is pretty hopeless in the ruck. On the upside, it allows us to have another runner in the side ( ROK if he's fit hopefully), but Clark and Luenberger could really hurt us around the ground if Mummy and White aren't on thier game. It also stuffs up our forward line. I know White hasn't exactly been tearing it up there, but him simply being there is important to our set-up.
As to the importance of this game, I too am a little nervous. At times this year we have gotten a little complacent after a few good games, i hope that isn't the case this week.

Watching the Bulldogs replay now and big Mummy had very limited impact on the night. His knee went very early. This means that Swans beat the Dogs albeit sick puppies, without Mummy having much of an impact. I think Pykey and Jesse should do fine with Rok and Bulldog back.

I thought Bulldog was really in good nick before the injury so I am hoping he slots straight back into that magnificent smart short forward role that he's been playing so well. He and ROK could have played on Saturday night at a stretch meaning they will be out of their skin this coming Saturday night.

What is the chance of a miracle Dons win over the Dons and us getting some sweet percentage against the Lions to get 4th?

I think you mean Pyke, not Mummy. But as far as White goes, I have every confidence he'll be able to stick with Clark/Leuenberger around the ground. It's the taps which are the problem.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

We have to beat the lions by about 150 points and the Dons need to beat the Dogs by about the same. Chances = zero, unfortunately. Wouldnt want to play collingwood in a final anyway!!!!!!!!

You can't read into Brisbanes form against Essendon who are currently woeful, only the Eagles are worse.

J Brown is also unlikely to be anywhere near fit (if he plays) coming off a 6 day break considering that he was played this week to get his 200th game.

Our biggest issue this week is the inevitable let down after such a massive emotional game last week.

Yeah sorry, Pyke. I'm not questioing his ( Whites) ability to follow them around all day, but i fear thats exactly what he'll be doing. He looks lost running around the ground and when the ball hits the deck at stoppages. In saying this however, after reading TheHoods post, it porbably wont matter. We ought to paste the Lions if we continue to play the way we have been

Should be interesting. Lions desperate to save some face after a season termed a bit of warm poo on a stick.
Swans desperate to sew up 5th spot and on fire. Hope we haven't got all tired and emotional after Saturday night.
I'm really excited to be going up for the game.

I would have been more nervous about this game if Brown was playing his 200th this week instead of last week.

I just don't see the sense in playing White in the ruck. Leave him at FF where everybody loves him and play Currie or Reid for one game as back up ruck....you know it makes sense !!
