Liz I'm now confused but that happens a lot. I was at the Lions game when Lappin (?) was carried off (and the wave started) but wasn't that at Olympic park for an afternoon game? That's what I recall. The pirouette goal I was away for but was sitting alongside ORB at the B&F and he said "wait for this one" as it came up on the TV. But it could easily have been a champion (player not coach) like Voss instead of Buckley.

liz is right it was the same game. Don't think it was a r22 game though as I tend to remember all the r1 and r22 games.

You're right - it was at Homebush. When I was writing my post, "SCG" didn't feel right but I knew it was a day home game and had forgotten we played that one against the Loins on a Sunday afternoon after getting bumped from the Saturday night by the Bledisloe Cup.

And while it was late in the season, it might not have been round 22. We always seem to play the Lions nowadays in round 22 so I was probably just making an assumption.

Anyway, I can't see how they can keep Mike out for much longer. His tapwork is so pretty, and he has learned sooooo much in the offseason of where to be when, and is playing with so much more confidence. Up up and away quality wise. AFL standard.

Young Ben is I think the youngest on our list, including the rookies. He has talent and determination.

Find Luke P is a very strong player, physically I mean, and mentally. Wouldn't be surprised he got a gig if someone gets injured.
LJ looks like he is floating but he isn't. He is a 1%er man and a minder.
LRT looked like he was having fun.
Still want to recruit 53, Kane Murphy. He may be small but he is another of the Benny ilk, and he has such a strong boot! Way ahead of where you would think.

Stinker of a day, they did well. Except for one idiot umpire who has no idea of AFL standards of umpiring. Way off in his decisions, needs to go back to park footy for a couple of years.

I saw the last half of the two's & I thought 53 Kane Murphy(?) was really good, I loved his endeavour & gutsiness. Pykie was sensational, I liked Parker & the goal he kicked in the third was beautiful, he made kicking a 55 metre goal look so easy. I loved how Currie got involved when one of our smalls was scragged & threw his muscle about protecting his smaller mates. I think he could be a gun & he looks to finally be developing body wise. Pity Byron didn't play as I would have loved to have another look at him but I think he should get a call up to the 1's. I thought TDL did enough as he was monstered every time he got near the ball but managed to give a contest & bring the ball to ground. Belconnen concentrated so much on him we had a lot of players free. In the 1's he would not be given so much attention as they couldn't afford to do that as Belconnen found out other players get free. LJ was good & he really is very mature & controls the backline. Lamb is very clever just like to see him get a bit more of it but his delivery is super.

I actually watched the 2005 highlights DVD from the boxed set during the week, so I knew the year. Needed to look up which round.

There is a bye next week to co-incide with the seniors, and then we play Tuggeranong as the curtain raiser to the Carlton game. It will start at the very interesting time of Friday 4.20pm

I've just noticed that we're playing the Giants as a curtain raiser to the Dogs game at Manuka in three weeks time - starting at 9.50am. That makes driving down on Saturday morning completely out of the question. Time to ask the boss for the Friday off, methinks giving that the traffic out of Sydney after about 3pm on a Friday night is a nightmare.

Seems weird that they would fixture the two Sydney based teams to play a game in Canberra. I know GWS have a Canberra allegiance but surely they'll have plenty of opportunities to play other Canberra teams in Canberra.

Liz I did that drive a few weeks ago. If you get away before 2.30pm it's fine but add about half an hour for every 15 minutes after that.

The 1.10pm start for the main game as well is a bit left field for a Saturday, but TV rules obviously and we are starting early for a double header I guess.

Not sure what I'll do. It's not that much of a stretch to drive down Sat morning, if you hit the M5-M7 intersection by 6:45 you will make Manuka comfortably by 9:45. Given I'm at that intersection at 5:15 every morning, 6:45 will be like a sleep-in...lol. Certainly a long day if you're heading down from the Central Coast, but anywhere in Sydney is not that far from that intersection on a Sat morning (Northern Beaches excepted).

We do that drive occasionally from Gosford, F3 to Pennant Hills Road (Cumberland Highway) to M2 to M7 to M5. We were on the M2 in 50 minutes (not too much traffic on Cumberland Highway). The trip to Canberra would be about 4 hours, so not bad for Saturday morning, but a longish trip home. Depending on traffic of course.

Yep, certainly a long day if you are driving back, something I didn't consider. I always stay down for the Saturday games, the past few years with a gang from work who come down for their one game of the year, dinner and a night out at the casino.

Next morning at the Markets (Tram Stop?, Tram something) for breakfast before heading back home.
