    On the Couch rumour

Gerard said to Roosy that "his mail from a very feared assassin" that the Swans are starting to nibble in the direction of Tom Hawkins.

Roosy said that he thought Tom hsd and an aerobic capacity problem which was limiting him at the moment and that would limit his ability to play elsewhere on the ground.

When pushed by MIke whether Roosy thought that it was true, he said that he had no idea what the Swans were doing.

I recall a few others coming to the Club with limited aerobic capacity as well - Grundy is the biggest that comes to mind, Moore too I think.

I would like to see Hawkins in the Swans colours as he has major potential that is not being developed at the Cats.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

Spot on...please no, the frustration would be overwhelming.
He's being playing in a dominant team for 4 or 5 years now, and his return has been minimal and his impact non existent.

Hawkins is the biggest passenger on a AFL list .. Would have been delisted at any other club . So overrated .. Let's give white a proper go not just 3 weeks at a time

I can understand why we would be interested, recalling the Gerard Healy article a while back in which he said the Swans are one KPP short (of being a contender), so the upside is huge if we can get the best out of Hawkins. At this stage, I'd prefer to wait and see how Jesse goes for the rest of the season as I still think he has a lot to offer us.

You can see the Swans making a move for a quality forward tho - if not Hawkins, here's a wishlist:
    • Roughhead
    • Hurley (I wish...)
    • Westhoff
    • Kosi (meh?)
    • Mitch Clark
    • Henderson (Blues version)
    • whoever is left over after Suns have chosen between Dixon, and there two other ripper young KPPs

There are probably others, but let's find out whether LJ can play in the meantime.

With our strike rate with players from other sides I guess Hawkins would be a good fit...! Lots to like and has not over achieved at the Cats, had several chances and should come fairly cheaply.

Right age to do better at another club = Perfect fit IMO.

We could do a swap and neither team would be better off.

Vardy on the other hand is their Sam Reid. Sensational young forward.
The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible news

Hawkins had huge expectations from the start (Remember he's a father-son, too) comparisons with John Brown, etc. A fresh start might be great for him, isn't that what the Swans do well - reinvigorate? He certainly has some weapons. I wonder though what we would do if all of Johnson, Johnston, Reid, Grundy, White and Hawkins blossom? With ruckman, as well, and in the meantime Ted and LRT. I suppose it falls in-to "a good problem to have", but perhaps it would be better to draft a 27/28 year old from the state leagues who could come in just to take the number one tall away from Reid/Johnston. I cannot think of any mid twenties tall forward who could be reasonably expected to kick 60-70 that we could go for. Someone of the ilk of Drew Petrie, I would settle for. It means that player teaches Reid, Johnston (and hopefully White) some tricks, gives them the 2nd and 3rd defender, by the time they're retiring our two youngsters will be booming.
