The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible news
The Age Footy Guide was delivered today. Robert Walls, Garry Lyon and Matthew Lloyd allocate a final position for each side as follows:
Walls - 1 Hawthorn, 2 Freo, 3 West Coast, 4 Sydney
Lyon - 1 West Coast, 2 Sydney, 3 Hawthorn, 4 Freo
Lloyd - 1 Sydney, 2 West Coast, 3 Hawthorn, 4 Collingwood.
Lyon had us higher (4th) than either of the others last year and I think he may again be closer than the other two this year.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
Matthew Lloyd cranks up the Swans bandwagon:
Sydney was not the best home-and-away team last year but was the best finals team - which is all that matters at the end of the day. It's been 10 years since the Brisbane Lions won their third consecutive premiership and I believe the Swans have the mental toughness and improvement in them, to go back-to-back. They have filled their only weakness by adding Kurt Tippett to the forward setup and players such as Lewis Jetta, Sam Reid, Daniel Hannebery and Luke Parker are only going to get better. It may have caused plenty of controversy but the Tippett recruitment was the biggest win for any club over the off-season.
Finally, it begins

The Hun more deranged than usual in in this Swans preview: After speculating that maybe a Sydney 'Dynasty' is in the offing, predicts we will go 5th or 6th.
Also thinks Gary Rohan will be one of a players to watch, rather than a player who sadly will be watching. Says Sam Reid is our most exciting player?
On another version of this story there's a video of Brad Johnno predicting 4th.

Yeah clearly the guy who wrote the article had no input to the predicted rankings.
Actually I wouldn't put any stock in this ladder at all. Their predictions are mutally incompatible.
