    Jumper Presentation

Somebody on RWO must have been there. - Who made the speech to the new players? What was the main thread? Highlights? Bazza happy? Buddy fit in?

Come on guys, someone on RWO must have been there and can give us the independent low down on what went on. Who gave THE speech, Macca or KJ? Who got big cheers when they got their guernseys? Which RWOers got messy? really messy??

I was there, was a fantastic evening & almost made me feel part of the inner sanctum.

Adam Spencer hosted the evening and gave me many little chuckles during the evening. Especially when he stumped C bolts with a question containing a word he didn't know the meaning of (can't for the life of me remember the word now).

Captain McVeigh introduced the evening with a little speech welcoming new players & families to a special club. He focused heavily on culture & becoming not only better players, but better human beings.

Incoming chairman Andrew Pridham seemed quite nervous but worked into his speech well. Stood up to public criticism in regards to Buddy/Tippett/COLA sagas by emphasising how strong & stable the clubs position is and that we have achieved that through the hard work and intelligence of great people behind the scenes. It was received with hearty extended applause.

Adam Goodes was well loved on the night. After a long list of team and personal achievements were read, he received around a minute long standing ovation. It was amusing when horse, touching on his Australian of the year award said he was pick 40 something out of 80 odd when drafted, now he is number 1 pick from over 20 million.

BBBBH was definitely a highlight. He spoke very humbly & even admitted he did some some things he wasn't proud of during his time here. Was almost gushing with love for the club & lauded the culture. Finished the speech stating that he's back and will forever be a swan (or words to that effect).

Jumper presentation was great & made me realise just how much talent we currently have in our squad. Insane. We'll definitely give it a shake this year. Funniest moment was when LRT was presented. "Is known as a warrior on the field, but currently looks more like something from downton abbey" (in observation of his new hairdo).
Once all onstage Captain Jack gave a stirring speech once again heavy on culture, playing for your mates, sacrificing person achievement for team glory etc. Was fantastic!

On a side note a lovely little thing I noticed during one of the breaks was how happy and comfortable Buddy seemed. I saw Aliir Aliir was talking to Buddy then introduced him to his brother. They chatted a while, then Aliir motioned that he should come meet his mother. It was a lovely gesture to see a superstar of the game wandering over to the parents of a raw unknown player to say hello.

Fantastic night would definitely recommend going in the future if you can.

Thanks for the write-up Chookabilly. It is a shame they seem to have stopped broadcasting events such as the Guernsey Presentation and B&F dinner over the website. Hopefully they will upload some of the key speeches at some point.

    Great rundown Chookbilly! Thanks!

And so wonderful to see Bobby Skilton out of hospital and back where he belongs - at a Swans function!

Thanks Chooka. I'll have to save up my pennies this year so I can attend this event. Its one I haven't done so, and I really missed going to the B&F. Just too expensive. BUT maybe next year.....

He trolled the media good and they fell for it. They wrote a whole article about buddy setting a new trend for non beards casue he shaved it off..and two days later he shows up with the bushranger beard.

He really does hate the melbourne media, part of the reason he is just so relaxed and happy. And he doesnt have to put up with 10 months of melbourne dullness no more. I moved back to sydney and the first thing my wife noticed was how much happier i became and a lot less grumpy. A lot of sun and good weather does that..i am sure buddy feels the same way. Bleak city ineed.

Melbourne is a fabulous city, my former home town and the home of real footy. The footy media in Melbourne is hopeless, sure, but so is the mainstream media everywhere these days. Don't even get me started on the Sydney media.

    Show some respect.
