Carlton looking to sign Tom Mitchell

'Out of favour' is a bit much... He is unlucky but what ever happens at the end of the season could be interesting. Hopefully he remains a Swan!

It also came up earlier here (more indirectly) in a podcast.

400k a year - that is interesting that he is on that much.

Completely agree that the 'out of favour' comment is ridiculous - poor guy cant string more than a few games together this season before another injury hits.

well, if he's getting paid 400k a year and has a chance to win premierships and is only out of the team cos of bad luck, then what the hell can carlton offer him?

    Like Barry Mitchell's comment:

"Mitchell Sr said he was not aware of Carlton?s interest.

?He (Tom) is pretty happy up there,? Mitchell said.

?He?s had a bit of a run of different things this year. Probably at the start of the year when they weren?t in great form he was rested and since then they haven?t lost a game.

?He?s been a little bit unlucky in that regard. And he?s missed a few weeks here and there with a couple of little impact injuries. But the club are having a great year and it?s a good place to be.?

Not sure why that is surprising, it was well reported at the time we had to pay him the big bucks to prevent him from being snapped up by the Giants.

Strange article, the tone of the article made it seem quite definite but then quotes Mitchell's agent and father denying it and the two clubs declining to comment.

    It's just drivel.

They take a position for an article, and don't abandon it even when the content completely contradicts that original argument.

"The Blues have been pursuing the highly-rated midfielder", although apparently not via his manager (nor his father). So they speak to his Dad to hopefully get a quote that indicates he's frustrated and unsettled in Sydney, but apparently he's happy.

It's astonishing that it took two journalists to collaborate to produce such an insightful article.

Maybe this is just another media muck raking exercise. We have Barrett saying we're chasing Frawley, although I'm not sure which of Ted or Reg he displaces next year, Malceski off to enjoy his footy more at Melbourne, now Mitchell off to Carlton because he can't crack a senior game.

Plus Longmire spitting the dummy about International coaching, Cola, Heeney now top 3, Mills probably number 1 next year, academy hiding away players.....

Melbourne media just make up Swans stories to fill the news vacuum. If Mitchell goes it will free up cap space for Fraw..... :-)

Because there's no Premierships at Carlton during the span of Tom's career!

Saw a brief interview with Frawley on talking footy last night, he almost laughed in the reporters face when it was suggested that the Swans had been in contact.

    Hmmm Herald Sun.- News Ltd
    Talking Footy-Produced by McGuire Media

Can't people see whats happening here. This is how they will attack our success. By attempting to destabilise us. Eddie thinks it worked with Travis Cloke, so lets destabilise the Swans by putting @@@@ out there about players wanting to leave and us paying over the odds for a hack like James Frawley. Only one problem with it. Herald Sun isn't read in Sydney, and Talking Footy is not shown at all in Sydney.

    Good one Eddie.

I must say its almost getting laughable, whenever anyone from Hawthorn or Collingwood is on media street, they never fail to bring up either COLA, Academies, recruiting Tippett etc. Its almost like Tony Abbott, "stop the boats". Clarko last night on "On the Couch" had a very uneducated ping at the academies. Morons the lot of them.

Gillon Mclachlan is not a good leader. If he had made a definitive statement he would have taken the sting out of the conversation. Now he is in a position where he is going to make everyone unhappy. Will either learn quickly to be a leader or be encouraged out soon

On Mitchell. Silly article, no notice in Melbourne of the fact that he has been injured most of the year. the $1.2 m contract was widely reported to stave off GWS. would be playing if not injured

He'll be in the team by finals methinks. Clearly in our best 22 imo.
