There's talk about whether the standard of footy is as good as ever or not. The answer is that it's hit and miss. There are times when one sees a good contest, but other times when one sees a poor-standard or lopsided game. And you can't always predict which way it's going to be.

I took a drive down to Olds Park today and caught a cracker of a game between St George and UTS - I'll have some pics when this week's RWO report is up. St George led by seven points at the last change, but the Bats kicked the first three goals of the last quarter and looked set to pull off a boilover when they led by 12 points; and still leading by 11 as the clock ticked past the 20 minute mark.
But a long goal from nearly 50 out, and then an advantage goal after a push-out saw the Dragons regain the lead in the dying moments and hang on for a 2-point result. Plenty of momentum swings and highlights; played hard but in great spirits and enjoyable to watch.

And on the other hand Manly played We$ts today down at Weldon.

Manly looks OK, some big bodied players and very quick speedy style of play. Lots of kids in that side. Decent level of intensity and physicality overall. Not exactly a great facility but adequate enough I guess.

I hope that the licensed club at We$ts isn't tipping too much into their player budget this year because they were truly awful and anyone who thinks the standard of the league has improved should go and what that mob sometime. They had some OK players of course but overall they were a very poor advertisement for the NSWAFL. Overall they looked like a complete rabble to be honest, their coaching staff seemed clueless and bereft of ideas.....

I'll have this week's report up today. Sorry it's late - I was in Melbourne yesterday & my flight back was delayed, and by the time I got home I was too buggered to finish it.

Norris do not apologise for willingly doing a job no one else is rushing to undertake. Good work as ever.
