NEAFL 2016 Round 3
Redland Bombers v Sydney Swans Reserves
Saturday 16th April 2016
1.00pm
Leyshon Park
The Swans Reserves will travel to Leyshon Park for the first time as they face off against the Redland Bombers for only the second time in their history. The inaugural clash in 2015 was held in Blacktown and the Swans coasted to a comfortable 55 point victory that day.
The Bombers had a scare in the first round, managing to hold off a fast finishing Canberra Demons side but were more comprehensive in last week's thrashing of the hapless Brisbane Reserves side.
With a strong squad of 17 listed players named for this clash, and coming off a stirring come-from-behind victory over our archrivals the Giants, the Swans will be warm favourites to maintain their position at the top of the NEAFL ladder.

Changes
In: Davis, Jones, Hewett
Out: Dean TOWERS (seniors), Tyrone LEONARDIS (senior emergency), Jordan DAWSON (???)
The Swans ran with an unorthodox inside midfield brigade last week with the likes of Towers, Dawson, Rose and even Leonardis spending time in the middle. The return of Hewett and Jones to the side will give them more genuine options although it might make more sense to play those 2 in the positions they were occupying in the seniors.

Hebron was the pick of the litter last week, setting up a few goals as well as kicking one himself. His performance was even more meritorious when you consider he was the victim of a late hit by Jack Steele earlier in the game and took some time to recover.

The Bombers are in a period of consolidation after losing 5 of their players to AFL clubs:
Ruckman Paul Hunter to Adelaide
Midfielder Josh Smith to Collingwood
Key forward Sam Michael to Essendon
Key forward Matt Uebergang to Fremantle
Forward-ruck Wylie Buzza to Geelong
However they still possess a solid midfield with the likes of Grewar, Salter, Thomson and Steven all averaging above 20 disposals a year in 2015, who have been joined by former Lions Academy player Bertoli-Simmonds who has started the year in great form. Tasmanian recruit James Charlesworth is their leading goalscorer with returns of 3 goals in the first round and 5 goals last week.
