finally the last few years we have had two games vs gws in Sydney ie only one extra game ie the away game vs gws at Blacktown but in a season of inches it all counts
The Melb teams have had a massive advantage re home and away in Melb games
My Swans magazine arrived today and as usual it's a good read.
I found the John Blakey prcis of our six debutants very interesting, particularly Jordan Dawson - "We expect Jordan to really stake his claim in 2018 .......... While he was outstanding in the NEAFL, he was easily our best player, for a variety of reasons he wasn't able to break back into the senior side"
derrrrr, maybe if you had selected Dawson instead of other much lesser players for promotion to the seniors on several occasions eh?
I really expect Jordan Dawson to become best 22 early in the season, far too much footy ability to languish in the NEAFL whilst other lesser players with low ceilings keep spots.
From the AFL website - "The Swans chose not to conduct time trials this pre-season"
Influence of the new coaches?
"Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." Beerman 18-07-2017
Intriguing suggestion. Makes as much sense as any other explanation. In seeking to understand why they didn't conduct time trials this season it would help to know more about why they normally do. I guess they are looking to benchmark players' fitness. But, as mattybloods points out, there have got to be plenty of other ways to do that. I like that we're trying something different and going our own way.
Their counting houses trained down this year rather than a time running 3km!
I vaguely remember reading something, that said we were going to conduct time trials towards towards the end of the preseason, rather than at the start. But don't quote me on that.
