Good to see Bell getting in the action.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
Really disappointing score. Still don't have anyone who can score goals. This is worrying. Have we overestimated our recruits? Have we overestimated the list in the last few years? Even though Uni made finals last year we flogged them. To lose with such a low score is disappointing.
I know it is only a practice match but we should be ten times better than this mob practice or not. Their team is full of ex Swans, players who could not make it, and ex VFL players who could not make it. Our boys will have to be far better in the season proper.

Did anyone see Amartey out there?
Bear in mind that our team was 1st/2nd year players plus a lot of top ups. So it is hard to pass judgement on our new recruits.
There was not much fluency to the game and we struggled with our contested marking around the ground eapecially in the second half.
Rowbottom and mcinerney worked hard in midfield. Foot at half forward, was not hugely involved but seemed to move well. Reynold was outmuscled at some marking contests but looked calm with the ball and took a few intercept marks. Wicks seemed to be a defensive forward.
Amartey did not play. Mcclean did most of the rucking.
Listed players i remember were stoddart, reynolds, mcclean, fox, rowbottom, mcinerney, rose, ronke, bell, foot, wicks and pink.
Uni showed much more cohesion with some nice moves out of the backline and they had a proper ruckman and a true forward in Davies. Some nice things from Bell, Ronke, Rowbottom, Stoddart at times but not enough of them. Errant hand pass count high.
Tucker not playing yet? What number did McLean get? Which ex Swans lined up for the Students?
I don't find it at all strange that we are beaten. Apart from the fact that it was just a practice match, as pointed out already we had a team of mostly young and inexperienced players and top ups. It is understandable that first year players, although talented, may be outplayed by other players, who were also talented enough to get on AFL lists, but who are more seasoned and, in some cases who have played many AFL games (e.g. Towers).
Others may know which/how many ex-AFL players Uni Sydney have. But they don’t have Towers - he is at University of NSW-Eastern Suburbs as player/coach - and Xavier Richards and Craig Bird both left Uni Sydney end last year.
Hiscox might be the only listed ex Swan left.
Many ex Academy players like Josh Stern, Bailey Stewart, Ned and Joey Reinhard, Darcy Baron-Hay
