That's something of an odd team. They are going all in with the midget forward fleet.
McInerney's selection is somewhat unexpected. He was one of our best against GWS (not stiff competition) but I'd have thought he would have played more minutes against North if he were in contention for a round 1 spot.
And Hewett as an emergency? Does that just reflect the interruptions he's faced with his preparation, or something more about the balance between size and speed through the middle. I reckon size and ball winning is more lacking than pace.
There could be some funny buggers going on with selection and late outs e.g. McInerney makes way for Sinkers.
Is some of this to do with the shorter quarters and an expectation that the game will be even quicker than usual?
Also, for those that missed out, how do they get to develop their game, impress coaches etc? Is the NEAFL about to be replaced with a lot of reserves games between the Swans and GWS?
And here are The Crows
Brown Talia Laird
Milera McAsey Smith
Seedsman MCrouch Walker
Jones Frampton Lynch
Murphy Fogarty Stengle
O’Brien BCrouch Sloane
Davis Kelly Gibbs Atkins
Himmelberg Hamill Mackay Poholke
Quite a tall forward line even if Nicks did try to hide Tex on the wing there.
The last game that Ben Davis played he was so bad that I thought he would be delisted before the season ended. But I heard he had a great pre-season, and here he is in the best 22. I never thought that Ben Davis would be playing AFL and Abe would not. Go figure.
Quarters will still go for 25 minutes. Ronke's selection puzzles me.
Gone for speedy mosquito fleet forward plus the aerial prowess of Heeney and Blakey. It does mean the Cows are a tall back too many unless McCartin lines up forward. Ronke the luckiest in that 22, he'll need to be shutting down a Cows back half runner.
I like it, something different for a different game.
I like COR, has had injuries at inopportune times but IMO he's a lock for the now and future. McInerney, didn't see that coming but he's obviously impressed.
No NEAFL now makes it difficult for draftees and the inexperienced to break into the seniors, I wonder what they'll be doing practice match wise? Late edit, just saw your similar comment Markwebbos
Anyone know if we are flying on a charter plane?
