Bit harsh dropping Gould! Let him play a game first. The info on Reid, Pelican, Hewett and Wayward is here

Reid, Melican in line to return

Interesting that Gardiner mentioned Reid, Melican and Amartey as available for selection. Could this be an indication that we might see another debutante. Maybe all 3 will be inclusions, with Reid playing forward, along with McCartin and Amartey; Aliir and Melican playing back in their usual positions. This would get our height element back to normal.

Hard to say if either Blakey or Warner get dropped. Maybe not if we already have 3 forced changes. Gould, Foot, Bell and Taylor look possible inclusions as well for this game.

The inclusion of Reid should take some pressure off Blakey - Reid will take the better defender and Blakey won't be needed as a key tall target. Would give Warner another game but if struggles, replace him with Taylor.

Would love to see Horse be much more attacking at the start (rather than when the game is over). Start with Papley, Parker and Mills in the guts.

My team would look like this:

    Cunningham Rampe Fox
    Lloyd Aliir Dawson
    Rowbottom Mills Florent
    Stephens Reid Blakey
    Hayward McCartin Taylor
    Sinclair Parker Papley
    Hewett Warner Gould McInerney

Parley, Parker and Mills in the centre square sounds great to me!

Bugger, I was enjoying watching how Hayward was progressing the Backs. Hopefully it is nothing too serious.

There was an article on the swans site.

With the compacted schedule, any players carrying niggles should be rested. COR, Hayward and Hewett should be rested. Blakey, if carrying elbow injury needs a break (or dropped due to poor form).
Gould in for COR: like for like.
    Reid in for Blakey.
Maibaum or Melican for Hewett, move Mills to midfield.
Squizzy, Ling or Wicks for Hayward. Ling could potentially play back, allowing Cunningham to play as a pressure small forward, a role he's done before with some success.

I think Robbie Fox wants to stay in the team. Couple of his responses in his Pocket Profile:

‘Growing up, who was your favourite player? John Blakey’

‘Who would you like to swap places with for a day? Horse on team selection day’

Some good news, Reid to return. Though I think most of us will all be nervous that this might not last.

Sam Reid set to be named for his first game of the season when Sydney plays Hawthorn

I like Sam’s quote about Papley:

"Tom Papley has been doing a great job [in the forward line]. He's the most experienced out there and he's playing like a man possessed. He's been putting a lot on his shoulders and playing really well.”

Holy @@@@, Matt Ling. Hell hath frozen over. Go well, young man. Bell too.

    Bummer about the injuries.
