Loose translation from the Latin is - I am tall, so I hit out.
Just checked, Autry recorded it in 1937 which raises two questions
1) What was sung prior to the Autry crap, and
2) Did that tune bring to an end the Swans "Golden Era" rather than a betting scandal?

Which is sort of curious, as I was looking into it and found this link to a Trove page.
23 Jan 1932 - S.M.F.C. Social Evening - Trove
It says that a couple of Swans players sang the song with altered lyrics, at a social night in 1932. There was an original 1929 version, but I haven't put myself through listening to that.
Perhaps we used the social night parody lyrics for the theme song?
Here we go with the PC again !!!
Just let the girls either have their own song or alter the traditional words to suit them.
We waited 72 years to sing our song....dont mess with history
I'd take it one step further so we won't have to change the song again in 2050, changing it to: while the loyal bots are marching.
This could be the Swans' team photo in 2050:
It's bemusing that so many are upset if we use the term quarterback, yet it's okay that the team song is a ripoff on the song of a famous American university.
Yes, earlier in the thread, I was going to mention, that with all the great songwriters in Australia, we could probably do better than a knock off of an American college marching tune. But I thought that I'd better take it one word at a time. From sons, to ones, to bots, and finally, the new world order.
Didn’t we just change the national anthem to make it more inclusive?
My suggestion is “lovely buns”. Works for both genders.
