Round 2 (the Buddy beauty round): the other games.

While most of us will be obsessing over how Buddy goes on Saturday, there are other games, starting off tonight with Collingwood v Carlton. Collingwood are very slight favourites, but I think that Carlton should be favourites, as they were still in with a chance, until very late, against Richmond; while Collingwood never really looked like beating the Bulldogs.

Tomorrow night will see one of the premiership favourites, either Geelong or Brisbane, get into a bit of trouble, by going 0-2. Assuming that it's not a draw.

A couple of the Sunday games look they could be good contests: Bulldogs v Eagles and Dockers v Giants.

Carlton have another year of mediocrity ahead of them.

I did the stupid thing and tipped them in the footy tips, grrrr

One can only hope their mediocrity continues now this season

Fascinating game tonight, at the cattery but Cats have significant outs, another tipping nightmare for me

I'd be surprised if Teague lasts the season.

Certainly a good chance it's his last, if they continue like this.

Watched the game against my better judgement. Same old every season. A couple of nice goals at least.

More hopeful for tonight's game, we'll see if the Lions can bounce back.

But most excited about Saturday of course, when I'll be at the SCG for the first time since the end of season 2019. Can't wait.

TO be fair, Carlton started with a game against the current premiers, followed by a game against another of last year's finalists, a side that they have only beaten twice in the previous eight seasons. Their next two games are against Fremantle and Gold Coast, two sides about equal to them in strength. If they lose both of those as well, then is the time to talk seriously about their future. If they win both, a 2-2 start isn't too bad. I expect they will be 1-3 after four rounds.

I think this article slightly underplays Carlton's role in our near demise. Let's hope they continue to fail - they deserve to!
Also don't forget Collingwood's role in saving the club. Since then, I have enjoyed it every time Collingwood beats Carlton.

Yep. It was Collingwood who led the fight to keep us afloat. God bless their little black and white hearts!

What was their motive? Intrinsic love or respect of/for the Swans, or a desire not to see their archrival get a leg up?

I think the latter...Swans and Blues have not had much time for each other since the "Bloodbath" in '45.

Definitely the latter but they still saved us.

Ninth season in a row where Carlton have started 0-2 or worse. Staggering.
