    I actually reckon the AFL has created a legitimate crisis for itself with the quality of umpiring.

    Q1 was great to watch. Q2 ugly as hell. An avalanche of free kicks destroying the spectacle. i guess this is our obligatory @@@@ quarter.

    Yes this is a good point. It seems the umpiring has been particularly bad this year. I think in many cases the umpires have an expectation of who should win and think there's something wrong when what's expected doesn't happen...

    But something has to be done...It's a far better game when the umpires are not too involved .

    I do think they 'watch' certain teams and players. I also think the standard genwrally this year has been awful. The rules seem to change week by week.
