Bell the only player under pressure from those out of the team.

Got to get games into Chad and Campbell ready for finals, might have to be done at senior level.

A rather easy recommendation and probably the majority of posters would share this position:

    Out - Bell
    In - Chad

No time in the VFL to get Chad going. Has to happen at senior level and I would back 1st game back Chad to provide more than Bell at the current time.

What's the latest on Chad's uptake of training? Think the last I saw was he had about 10km session. A bit more would be nice (for perspective, think Reid did an 11 or 12km session around the week he resumed in reserves), but he must be getting close.

And is there any hope of reviving VFL to give him a game there, or might the coaches need to roll the dice if that's where we want to go.
'Delicious' is a fun word to say

Swans won by just 9 points against the Saints in R12. Both sides were inaccurate with a score line of 13.14 V 12.11.

Compared to our last game with Essendon, Amartey, McDonald, Chad and Rowbottom were playing instead of Reid, Errol, Bell and Blakey.

With no VFL games for our non-selected players to keep their form, changes will be minimum. However, there are only 3 regular matches left before our final campaign, we need to settle on our best 22 for the finals. Wonder if the coaches will still decide to bring in Chad and perhaps Melican?

Bell really should go out, but hard to drop anyone else.

Who to bring in is not an easy decision. I still would consider Melican. Essendon didn't challenge us for height, so our current defense handled that well enough. If St. Kilda play both Ryder and Marshall, we should consider bringing in Melican.

Otherwise, it's a tough choice between Rowbottom, Campbell, Warner and Stephens (who we know is fit to play).

Strong agree Bell should be replaced. He seems be struggling a bit with himself and his performance is waning. I don't see how one could honestly point to any value add at the moment.

Preference for replacements, in order but depending on fitness: Warner, Rowbottom, Stephens.

I think, with Reid back in particular, we should leave our defence as is.

Agreed but I’m not sure about Wicks- would consider Amartey/ Logan for him. His kicking for goal needs huge improvement too- misses often.

Very limited player but he is in the team for fwd pressure and he brings it. When he stops bringing it then there's no point playing him but until then he deserves his spot , #1 in the afl for scores from turnovers

Whilst Chad for Bell looks the obvious change, I would seriously consider bringing in Armatey instead for Bell. This is because St.Kilda is likely to regain Ryder this week. They are a better side when Ryder/Marshall play in tandem. Armatey provides ruck/forward chop out for Hickey & allows flexibility for Reid to play stints down back to help out our defence should Max King prove a handful. It also helps maintains our 2 KPF structure.

Bell can the sub. Chad can come in the following week after a run in the the 2's this week (hopefully). Hasn't played any footy since the bye. Saints coming off 8 day break versus our 6 days, which also needs to be factored.

It comes as no surprise that yet another player is misunderstood because he diligently and enthusiastically fulfils a role. Wicks is far more than a pressure forward. He is worth has to be seen live to appreciate like Bell the one percenters he is involved in:
    1) he applies forward pressure
    2) he is fine mark and provides many cut outs when we are moving from our D50. In no small measure is he responsible for us being #1 in this phase of the game.
    3) he consistently sacrifices himself to provide blocks for his other forwards, consider the Franklin goal against Fremantle, as a small sample of his work.
    4) he is aggressive. This is a necessary and important aspect often overlooked.
    5) he can and does kick goals but it is true he has been missing set shots, however, he is still getting into the right spots to take those shots. Reflect back to round 3 when he was a significant component in treating the Richmond backs to a lesson.
    6) he does a great deal of his best work unnoticed creating space for other forwards by running out of leading lanes and drawing opponents away from those parts of the ground then doubling back to get front and centre to contests.

Of course he isn’t the only one doing these little things but he does them very well.
Should he do more? Of course, and he will because he is appreciated and is seen to be doing things well by the coaching staff. This is called gaining confidence and experience.
